Ok, I think we may get enough interest in this to make it fun. I'll run this one and if it's a hit I'll try and keep them going each month. Only caveat is I have to travel to El Paso mid April to later May, so if we do a May shoot I may need some help or move it to the end of the month. Ok, on to details:
What you'll need:
- A sheet of paper (at least 8 1/2" x 11")
- A 2", 4", 6", and 8" diameter circle (I raided the kitchen and found them in 2 minutes)
- 20 yrd shooting space tops (this months is 15 yrds to start it off)
Next:
Trace the appropriate diameter objects. Id start at the 8" and work down to keep them evenly spaced circles. Example picture at bottom. In one corner write that shoots parameters i.e. Range - 15 yrds and position - standing for this month. (If we keep at it we'll alter the range and circumstances, i.e. Kneeling, elevated, etc.)
Center ring is 10 points, 4" ring is 8 points, 6" ring is 6 points, 8" ring is 4 points. No points for rest of paper.
Rules:
3 shots, cold or warmed up
Standing (this month)
Hole has to break that points line to count
15 yards (this month)
You'll have the whole week to make your shots, but only the 1st three count (this months shoot is closed on April 11th)
And... Pics or it didnt happen
What you win? Nothing but fun. Try and get your bow and gear in the pic. Do your own honest math and post points in your post. Feel free to add any environmental info as well, this is also a good time to see what folks are up to these days.
Managment:
Ok, so right below this post will be a "Participants" thread. If you say youre in I'll add your handle to the list. After you shoot I'll edit your points next to your name.

Here's an example of one I made on PowerPoint. The only trouble I had was ensuring the circles were the right size. It took a little toying around with:

I'll give it a go.
I used to do this a lot on airgun and pistol forums.
Can I use the CAD-generated target I just made, instead of a hand-drawn pencil & crayon target?
Pockets: sure as long as the circles are the proper size. The hand drawn option is just to make it more inclusive for people without access to premade targets or printers, etc. Since there's no points outside of the 8" circle it can theoretically be on any sized paper > 8".
I'll try it.
Sounds like fun I'm in.

I have got to figure out how to post pictures so I can join in !
jt85, no worries. If you can't figure it put by then just send them to me or someone else and we'll post them. If you are on your smart phone, download photobucket app. Once you do, go in and you can upload pics from your phone into your "bucket". Once in your bucket just open the picture. At the bottom is a little copy option that looks like a square with an arrow on it, click it, then click "copy", it'll open like 3 or 4 options, you want the "IMG" one, just copy the address and paste it to your post right here. I make it sound harder than it is.

Does the shoot close tonight at midnight or do I have tomorrow still.
On the road back home from opening weekend for thunder chickens. Hope I have better luck shooting than I did chasing turkey. At least my 7 year old had a blast, nothing better than seeing his face when he heard a big gobbler. Worth every minute!
Coerced the wife into a pit stop on my way home, got my group in and my original post. Thanks
Chris Pharr, technically it ends tonight, but if you can get them in in the morning it should be ok. I'm doing the final tally around noon eastern tomorrow, if its not in by then still feel free to shoot and post, there's no harm in it as far as I can tell.
I was afraid someone would come up with a 30! Congrats!

Chris Pharr- I scored it at 20 because it looks like you broke the lines. If you didn't let me know and I'll bump it down. I'm no professional either, but from what I understand as long as your arrow breaks the line, you get credit for that ring; which is why many wheelie tournament shooters shoot super fat arrows. Glad you made it back into town safely, and good shooting!
Hey Cavscout, thanks for doing this!
Thanks really fun and good idea.
