Title: Looking for a Javalina hunt
Post by: Crittergetter on March 06, 2016, 12:23:00 PM
My wife and I are considering doing a Javi hunt in may for our anniversary. I don't even know what their seasons are. Would prefer to stay in tx if possible and Would prefer DIY.  Any body got some recommendations?

Randy, better check your Texa regs, there is a season on them in Texas and I beleive its over end of March.
I haven't gone in several years, but they are a real hoot to hunt. There are probably more in South Texas than anywhere.
But the cover is so thick hunting is limited to mostly hunting the
Sendarios. You can spot and stalk in west Texas but not as many, but I guess that would depend on the ranch hunted.
Can't help you about anywhere else. You don't want to go in May, too hot and way too many buzztails.

If you go to S. Tx there is no closed season. Stalking javies is a blast!

Randy, not sure when you are looking to go.  Most places that I know of are booked up for the year.  I know one place with a few openings, but the hunting can be tough.  If you want a target rich environment, Fair Chase, LTD is probably the best bet, but it books way early.  Probably would need to call Rob Keibler now for next year.  I think they are probably done for this year, but not positive.  Great accommodations, buy a little pricey.
