Well what a great time we had again this afternoon. My two boys and I went out to a field of turnips (cattle feed) on my bosses ranch.
We originally went out chasing rabbits with our bows, but the rabbits didn't want to play. So, as Plan "B", we found great entertainment and enjoyment shooting our flu-flu's at the numerous white cabbage moths that were on the crop. Close, further away, moving, sitting on the leaves, we had heaps of shots at these moths.
The laughter and the "oooh that was close" and the "good shot" banter back and forth between father and sons, and between the boys themselves was fantastic. The bright eyes and the wide smiles from my boys will be precious and treasured memories. Best fun stump shooting I've ever had.
Youngest lad (13yo) got two confirmed kills with his longbow, oldest (15) also got two with his recurve, and I managed to smack five with my longbow. My boys most often out-shoot me, but today the old boy managed to show them how.
Such great fun doing this with my boys, special special times.
The boys got home and ran inside to tell Mum how much fun they had and how well they shot. Now they are super keen to have another go at it again tomorrow.
Sounds like a good plan.
Thats Great! sounds like a perfect afternoon. have fun tomorrow.
Time spent with our kids is very precious. When they like to share our hobbies, its even better. It sounds like a really great outing.
Good times and always a memory made. Time spent with our kids is priceless.

Good for you.
Can't beat shooting with the kids.
Memories of Dad for a lifetime.
Archery is such a wonderful gift for families. Being able to shoot (even just in the backyard after work) with my wife and son is truly one of my greatest joys.
Thanks for sharing your story.
Very cool, next time we need some trophy pics
Sounds like a fun time with the kids.
That sounds like a blast!
My boys are 8 and 10 and we have a lot of fun shooting together but I'm looking forward to the competitive banter ounce they start gaining confidence in their shots!!!
BTW, Welcome to TG!!!!!
Hey, mate! Cabbage moth to buffalo is a pretty extreme spread of game! My advice is, if you think you got one of those moths, don't waltz-up to it straight away. Give it some time before you approach. It's the dead moths that get-up and kill you!
Good to see you on TradGang!
Thanks guys,
Hey Ben, good to be here.
Yeah, I was wondering if I might be a bit under-bowed, but the 75# PLX was up to the task, plus I remembered your advice to "Pick a spot" and all went well, pass through's every time actually :)
