After discussing riser wood and limb veneer options a bit more, I've made my decision! Highly figured bocote and phenolic riser with spalted maple limb veneers. Bocote/black and natural glass tips with bocote/black front and back overlays. Pics to follow soon.
Sounds like it will look good. Chad is an excellent Bowyer, he would tell you if they didnt work well together.
Can't wait to see pics.
Chad shipped mine today. I should have it in a day or two. I have no idea how to post pictures, but would love to do so if I can figure it out. I can't wait to get it in my hands.
Rick , If you email me the pics I will gladly post them for you. Fred
Hey Rick, Did you order a River Runner? What woods?
Fred,I never heard back from you. Did you decide on woods for your bow?
Lucky dog..
Nice can't wait to see it. The more I shoot mine the more I like it. This bow fits me perfectly and is a dream to shoot.
Thanks Fred. I will take you up on that offer and email you pics when it arrives. Yes, I ordered a River Runner with a Bolivian Rosewood/Bubinga riser and Tamo Ash veneers on the limbs. Tomorrow or Thursday is probably realistic for the USPS, but maybe I'll get lucky and Jerry will be filling in for Newman and it will show up today. That's an old Seinfeld reference for those who used to watch it.
Sounds like a very unique combo, can't wait to see pics. Enjoy your bow!
Your gonna love it. My RR Is by far one of the best shooting bows I've ever had.

She has arrived and she is beautiful. I will take some pictures tonight and, hopefully, with Fred's help, get them posted soon.
Let's get'm posted Fred!!!
I will post them as soon as I get'em.
Pic posted in a new thread started by richter.
Good on you Fred! Rick's bow is beautiful. Love those limb veneers!!! Is that the tamo ash you were considering? Looks a little like quilted maple to me.
Het Mike I'm gonna take a couple days off from working on your bow . I have a short trip planned to ND. Bow is tillered and looking good. About half done. Chad
Thanks Chad! Have a good trip and be safe. Looking forward to seeing more pics of the build when you get back.

Chad just called. He will be shaping the riser and gluing the overlays and tips in the next two days. Bow will be completed at the end of the week!
Can't wait to see it when it's done!
Any pics of the veneers so far?
Tom, I believe flatshooter went with spalted maple veneers. I too am anxious to see them.
Hoping to get some pics in the next few days guys. I did go with the spalted maple limb veneers. Chad thought the black streaks would compliment the bocote. Bow looks like it will come in at 48# @ 28". I gave him a range of 46-49#. Looks like he nailed it!
Tips are done! Now final shaping of the handle, some work on the overlays and off to the spray booth!

Gonna be a beauty!
Riser shaped, filler brushed on, limb veneers sanded and ready for spraying. I hope to post pics of my finished bow soon.limb veneers should look awesome against the bocote riser. Can't wait to start flinging arrows!!! She draws 49# @ 28"

Yeah Tom, your bow was an inspiration to me for sure! Can't wait to see the veneers after they're sprayed!
Sweet!! Can't wait to see pics of mine coming together.
Hey Fred, has Chad started your bow yet? Looks like the cocobolo/bocote with cedar limbs already sold!
Michael, No not yet, that's why I want him to get yours done :biglaugh: Yeah, I saw this morning that it was sold.
LOL... Chad said "a couple of days" yesterday. Wait, I think I hear the saw blade and grinder humming now!
Hopefully, yours will turn out just the way you want it. If not, there doesn't seem to be an issue with Chad moving stock bows. I couldn't believe that bow sold so quickly!... It was a beauty!!!!
Waiting for other guy's build pics is like doing it all over again. Just plain fun!
Man, that is looking awesome! I am a copycat and am doing the same riser, but I am trying to make a final decision on veneers.
Michael's bow will be sprayed tomorrow or Friday, ship next week. Why didn't you post the picture I sent of the other side of the riser, with the thumb rest. I thought that was the wild side!
Donovan's riser is glued up and in the oven. Waiting for the veneers to show up. Should be here tomorrow or Friday.
Fred I glued up a longbow tonight with the your veneers to make sure they will work out, since I have never used them before. I thought it a good idea to do a test run. I will send you a picture tomorrow of them. Your riser is prepped to glue the Lazy s but I want to let it sit for a week or so to bring the moisture content of the Chechen down under 10%. It is at 12% now.
I has been a very busy week. The phone has been ringing off the wall. (If we still had a phone on the wall, LOL)
Chad
Chad, Sounds great, looking forward to seeing the pic. Fred
Here's the wild side!

Chad, great to hear business is picking up! You might have to consider this as a full time job!!
Can't wait to see pics of all the eye candy in the works!!.... Man I love the way this bow turned out!!!!
Glad to see Chad's getting bit of a following, you guys will be glad when you get your new bows. They a fantastic shooters.
Wow Chad I didn't even know you had started on mine yet! Killer.
Love that "wild side" picture.
Michael, That's some killer looking bocote on the "wild side" !
Yeah Fred, it is a beautiful piece of figured bocote. I'm really looking forward to seeing the spalted maple limb veneers against the riser. I'll post a pic as soon as Chad sends it to me.
I'm also looking forward to seeing the Chechen once the moisture level drops. It should be a beauty too. Have you seen the zebra wood yet?
Michael, No I haven't seen any pics of mine yet but I'm sure Chad will send some once he gets the time and farther along in the build.
Here she is!

Wow. That looks great!
It's a beauty!!
That's nice congratulations! I love getting new bows.
Very nice, that is a bow anybody would be proud to own.
Thanks guys! Chad is a craftsman of the highest order and a gentleman to boot! Couldn't be happier with the way things turned out and the advice Chad gave along the way. Those of you on the build list please consider posting pics for the rest of us to see...it's fun for us and great advertising for Chad.
Awesome bow man! Congratulations... I'll for sure update this thread with pics if I get them. Thanks again for posting.
Mine will have the same riser and Ambrosia Maple veneers.
That looks fantastic! Beautiful bow
Can't wait to see that one Donovan!
Wow! That bow is sweet!
Very nice! I like it.
Congrats Michael! Can't wait to hear how it shoots!
Pretty bow !!
Beautiful Mike it's really purty. Chad did ya well.
Great looking bow! Enjoy! :campfire:
Hey, thanks Glenn and Davey! Hope you guys are doing well. Hope to have this beauty in my hands early this week along with a shooting report.
Lets see pics of the limb tips and overlays.
As soon as she arrives Keith. Chad mailed my bow out today.
Ok, here is an update to my bow. Chad and I finalized on Amboyna Maple veneers. Yes... another Bocote/Phenolic riser!!! sorry it's just too slick to pass up.
These are the pictures I have right now, but I believe he will be sending me some more this morning/today after it is sprayed. Stoked!

Hey Donovan, that amboyna maple is awesome! Now there are at least three new bocote/phenolic risers out there! I agree, "too slick to pass up"! Did you see Tom's bow on this site? He just posted about stump shooting with his new bow. It looks better each time I see it! My bow should be arriving in the next couple of days. Can't wait!!!
Donovan, Those maple veneers are sweet. Since I didn't want to copy you guys I went with a Chechen and zebra riser, I chose a eucalyptus veneer to better match the riser woods, it is the darker veneer in the pic. I believe Chad started on mine yesterday. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v76/quarteraway/image_zpspcjjdngq.jpeg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/quarteraway/media/image_zpspcjjdngq.jpeg.html)
Can't wait to see that riser finished. Fred, Is there color in that piece of Chechen? Almost looks like an iridescent wave. Maybe it's the way the light hit it.
That's going to look great Fred.
Chad just sent me an updated picture. I'll add it shortly.

Beautiful!
WOW!
Great looking bows guys! Cant wait to hear how you all like them.
Chad emailed me today and said I'm up next. While not as fancy as you guys I think she's gonna be a looker as well. Here's a pic of my woods.
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v76/quarteraway/image_zpsvqx9egkw.jpeg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/quarteraway/media/image_zpsvqx9egkw.jpeg.html)
Fred, you are nuts. That bow will be unreal when the finish hits it.
Tom, I meant to thank you for turning me on to those eucalyptus veneers. They go great with my riser combo.
Yep, Fred, I think that's going to be a spectacular looking bow as well. Maybe this thread should be the new unofficial-official Holm Made bow thread... ;)
I think Tom is right! Once Chad does the final sand and finish, it will be spectacular! Can't wait to see this one.
After a brief "introduction" and a 15 minute warm up,I wanted to see what my new River Runner could do at 16 yds. She was at somewhat of a disadvantage since I chose to have her spit out some well used and somewhat ragged practice arrows. She didn't seem to mind at all!

Man! what a shooter!!! This is perhaps the quietest, smoothest drawing, most fun shooting one piece recurve I have ever owned... Without question! Chad knocked it out of the park! Thanks a bunch buddy!
Good shooting Michael. Look like you two are gonna get along just fine.
Good shooting brother, I feel the same way about my River Runner. They are wonderful bows.

:bigsmyl: :bigsmyl: :bigsmyl:
Just picked up my bow! Can't wait to open it up.
LET'S SEE...LET'S SEE!!!!
Dang, Chad must have packaged the bow really good if it's taking Donovan this long to open it. :biglaugh:
Sooo... WOW! I got to shoot it about 5 times yesterday. I am blown away. Why only 5 times you may ask? And why haven't I shared any pictures yet? Well because my wife has her best friend down with her family of 5! When the hurricane leaves tomorrow I'll be sure to post some pictures and some more details.
Well, ride out the storm as best you can. We're all waiting to see those pics along with your shooting report. Quite a fan club developing here!
Glad to see you guys are happy with Chad's work. Been a fan for a long time, great bows and a really good guy!!
A few pics. The antler was to lift the bow up a little but it seems like it got in the way. I'll take some better ones tomorrow.

Sweet!!
Man, I really like that.
Me too!... Very nice combination of woods!
That looks Great!
you guys are killing me. i bad want one of those.
That is beautiful, I love that look!
-Jay
Thanks. I can't believe how much I like this bow.
My spalted maple limbs are starting to darken a bit as I have been shooting every day in some beautiful weather down here. Those limbs veneers are awesome and I'm sure they will take on some added color as it is exposed to sunlight. Great looking bow!
Man, those limbs are unreal! Hope you guys enjoy your bows!
