Title: crow creek black feather questions
Post by: Jmatt1957 on February 14, 2016, 04:46:00 PM
ok I just purchased a used Crow Creek Black Feather longbow. Should get it next week. Apparently the bowyer is not making them any more and there is no web site. Im a recurve shooter. what should the brace height be set at? Are they smooth ? How quick are they? Any coments or suggestons welcome. thanks in advance

They are  very smooth, good speed and very quiet if set up right... my brace is at 7.5 in. I believe.. would have to ask my buddy as he's had it for a couple months shooting it to see if he wants to buy it... only reason I'm selling it is its 62 in. bow and I like 58-60 in. bows..
Also at one time the bowyers son had taken over and was building bows and he's never had a web site, someone on here more then likely has Elmers number..

The brace height on mine is 7 1/2" as well. Mine has been pretty kind to me, so I think they're a nice option for a three-piece longbow. I like the matte finish that Elmer applied, and he's a great guy to talk to. I don't think he's taking bow orders anymore, as he's into his eighties. You'll be happy with the bow you just purchased.

This makes it three for three.

My 62" BlackFeather likes a 7 1/4"- 7 1/2" brace height as well. They are a smooth and very forgiving bow. My Morrison Shawnee at the same specs is 15fps faster, but it also amplifies any mistakes i make on release unlike my BlackFeather.

It is the only bow i have sold or traded that i actively went after to get it back.

As mentioned above Mr. Patton is a fine gentleman, but the last time we spoke he said he was winding things down (and that was a few years back now).

Longbowlogin, Elmer built that bow for me back in 2014. That's definitely one I wish I hadn't parted with. I traded it to a guy named baker.
I got the antler limb bolts from Trux Turning off this sight.
