Title: My New Saluki Turk
Post by: Tony Phillips on October 18, 2007, 05:09:00 PM
Here is my new Saluki Turk, it's 54" and 47#@28. It has a Bloodwood riser with Texas Ebony on the pistol grip and it looks like Wenge on the riser overlay (Lukas couldn't remember when I called him) He did a great dye job on the bamboo limbs.

This is my 4th Saluki and I think this is his best performer and smoothest of the 4 that I have owned.

Oh Man!!!  I just got a very similar one from Drewsbow and i love it!!  The only problem is I promised I wasn't going to jump ship (bows) so early in the season.  God I love this bow and I shoot it so well, But I love my Longbow, but I shoot the saluki real well too, but I love my longbow...but I love the saluki ...AAAAAAAAAAHHHH

Drew this is all your fault!

Oh well, I guess their are worse things than having two bows that you love to shoot.  I couldn't believe how well this bow shoots, It is absolutely amazing (smoother than silk).  I'm sure you will really enjoy yours.

Enjoy,
 Nathan

I'd love to have one of those Turks, or possibly another model Saluki. Anyone got one for sale?

Thanks everyone,

I still have to tweak it a little more. It really likes 1916's and I get a little wobble out of my 2016's. I'm thinking about getting some 45-50 ceders for it soon.

SEXY bow, Tony, just like its owner.  Er, well, at least the BOW is sexy!!

I hope you can find the time to get out in the woods a little, and can post a follow up pic of what she can do!

Congratulations on your new friend!  :clapper:

Thanks again, Lukas makes some great bows. This is the first one that I had him make for me, the others were shop bows or bow for someone else who didn't like them for what ever reason.

Thanks for your observations of this Turk as compared with your other Lukas bows. For the last two years I've missed out (My Fault) on shooting his bows at the Baltimore Shoot, next year for sure. I've heard that horse bows pull easier....like if you shoot 45# maybe try 50 or even higher, is this true in your experience?  Very Nice Bow By The Way!!

From my very limited experience, my 53lber(I think) feels like much less and seems to be a whole hell of a lot faster than my 57lb longbow.  I'd like to throw it on a chrono and see what the difference truly is.

I have been told that my Scythian, which is like a modern horse bow has what feels like "let off". I have owned 2 Scythians, 1 Genghis Sport and now the Turk. In my opinion the Turk has the smoothest draw.

Lukas has an incredible sense of design and use of materials. I have a few of his bows from the days when he only used natural materials, and one very interesting bow that incorporates a natural bamboo back and belly with nodes, Core Tuff glass under that, with a middle core of three laminations of bamboo. It is a 66" narrow limbed longbow. t shoots like a dream. He only made a few, sorry to say. It is an amazing bow. I think Lukas must eat, sleep and dream bow design.
