Title: Feather Rest
Post by: Skinnybill on February 12, 2016, 02:52:00 PM
Have a 59 Kodiak Reproduction.  The feather rest is about 1/4"away from the strike plate and is a bit crooked.  Should this be snug against the strike plate or should there be a small gap?  I've never used one before but the gap seems excessive.  If I was using micro-diameter carbons, I think they would barely be on the rest.  Thanks.

Sounds like a large gap to me, you can remove it and install again exactly where you want it with some barge cement. I usually mount mine with very minimal gap.

Not sure how that sight window is cut but the feather rests work poorly on radiused shelves.

My feather rest don't have a gap, I like them closer to strike plate...

I use double stick automotive tape from 3M (moulding tape) or just simple double stick tape.

****You should find that tape for $5-$6.00.  That price is for Canadians...

Feather rests need to be against the sight window of the bow. Many rests have the highest feathers on the outside, especially Saxon rests so they only work well when they are adjacent to the sight window. If yours is 1/4 away, re-set it with some Barge cement.  Someone did not install it correctly would be my guess.
