This guy Bill....
The only photos I get of him are ones with only four arras in his five arrow quiver.
He's been waiting 35 years for this kill so..... a BIG CONGRATULATIONS.
He will be along shortly with the story.
As soon as he gets back from the Taxidermy shop.
Such fun we have in these Florida woods.
Cant wait to hear the story...
Hey hey! I saw one that looked about like that in december!! I wasnt quick enough to get the shot off though sadly. Atta boy bill!
Nice Bill
You get it on film?
That's a sweet cat!
That's a big one.......well done!
R U sure that's just not Bill petting a tamed cat? :clapper:
Story please.
Well my hog hunting buddy Tom Gauthier and myself are enjoying another great hunt at Irv's Hog Camp. Irvs been putting us on plenty hogs this week.
We had a cold one with Irv's former partner Jim when we first arrived last week. Jim offered to let us hunt the original Dead horse ranch, which we did last night. The pigs weren't moving, pretty windy.
It was about a half hr before dark and I was enjoying the antics of the five coon, six squirrels and two cardinals when something caught my eye through the floor of the ladderstand....A large BOBCAT!!!
About the same time the cat saw me. It just stared straight up at me and what seemed like through me, you know that feline glare! It was right at the bottom of the ladder. I quickly raised the bow up off my lap, which caused the cat to switch ends, but not run, big mistake! In one continues motion I drew back out away from my body to about 3/4 draw and with my string hand six inches from my anchor, instinctively let the arrow fly.
The arrow drove straight down through onside shoulder and out the bottom of its chest. The cat hissed and jumped directory skyward what looked to be 4ft in the air. It continued to battle the arrow for ten yards until it was done.
At this point two of the coons that had just been being stalked by this predator came loping over and started biting and scratching at its head. They actually cut its face open! Wild thing to watch!!!
Been bow hunting 35 years and this is my first bobcat!!
Never gets old!!!
What a beauty, nice shooting.
And a wildlife drama to go with it. Fantastic!
Holy crap! Congrats? Can't wait for the story
I sure hope that you plan on eating that cat.
That's a big one! Congratulations!
That is a great looking cat and what a thrill taking such an animal.
That is an outstanding bobcat! Congratulations.
Congrats!
That looks like a really big bobcat

Congrats, Bill!
Too cool!
Congrats on the awesome harvest.
I guess the real question is did you get it on film?
Wow!! I have always wanted to shoot a bobcat. Maybe one day. Congrats Bill!
Beautiful Cat!
Thanks folks!
Darnit no, it's not on film. One of the very rare if not only time I've taken an animal off film since I started filming. I let a lot!
I'm telling you ALOT of critters walk because they are not on film. Same commitment trad bow hunting demands! I'm committed to share the adventure. This time I simply reacted. If I had tried to film I think the ending would have been different on this one, and that would have been ok too!
That is awesome Bill. I wouldn't have got too caught up in trying to get that one on film. Not to many opportunities on putty cats. Congrat's.
that is a great cat!!
Super cool congrats Brother!
congrats
Absolutely! No shame in ensuring the shot happened on one like that!
Congrats again on a beautiful animal.
Congrats, looks like a nice one!
wow ... that is a dandy
Congrats! The that is an accomplishment for sure!
Congratulations! That nice cat. Bobcats are on my bucket list.
Bill and I have been friends ever since I met him oh so many years ago in Indiantown Florida on my first ever hog bow hunt.
He and his Father, Dick, helped me skin it and prepare the meat, when I did not have a clue.
I have never forgotten their kindness, and have always attempted to help them when I can.
We have shared many a hog hunt since.
Bill and his friend Tom have helped me by building up a lot of my good hunt sites.
After this harvest, my debt might be repaid.
Yesterday morning, we briefly discussed our hunt options for the day, and just as easily could have chosen 9 of my other properties for Tuesday night's hunt.
It's great that fate chose the Dead Horse Ranch.
As many hours as he puts on stand every time he hunts with me....he deserves this trophy.
Very cool!
Congratulations, Bill.
Could not happen to a more deserving guy.
Irv
:clapper: :clapper: :clapper:
Congrats Bill! The rabbits, pigs, and turkeys at the Dead Horse are probably celebrating tonight.
Way to go Cats are the coolest things to get. And may be the hardest.
Outstanding cat...nice work Bill
Deno
Congrats Bill, that's an awesome accomplisment!! Beautiful animal too!! I'm a little disappointed that you didn't get it on video, I gotta tell ya!!!! :knothead: :bigsmyl: but hey, I'm sure you'll make up for it some how!!
Sean, he got plenty of hog kills on video this trip!

Ha Jim, looks like he made up for it then!!!! That's a gorgeous Bobcat!!! It looks like he was eating well!!
Thanks again guys!
It's all caped out for a full body mount and I've kept the skull as well. Freezing it in the hotel freezer, almost wouldn't fit!!
There is another pic of me holding the cat up, it really shows how long this cat is. I'll try to get Irv to post it.
Bill,
That pic is in the Highlights section.
(I think that's the one you mean)
That is a big Bobcat, for sure. Congrats and thanks for sharing. You might not have got it on film, but I guarantee its burned into your minds eye, never to be forgotten. :notworthy:
Very cool! Great shooting! Congrats!
That is the one Jim.
Maybe you could post that here?
I've got the photo here.
Man...you're impatient! HA HA!
But I guess I would be too with a nice trophy like this one.
This shows how long the cat was.
I believe Bill says they are longer and leaner than the ones he has seen in Connecticut.
These things are not just everywhere down here, pretty elusive critters, but I believe this one has been seen by a number of Jim's hunters at the former True South Dead Horse Ranch.
Bill has been slaying pigs with me at the new "Irv's Hog Camp" properties this week (total of three so far) and Jim was kind enough to offer him a seat at his lease, where this cat was shot.

Big cat, how much did it weigh?
That's the one Irv!
I'm really impressed with your computer skills!
Irv's Hog Camp is heading in the right direction!
My wife has to do that for me, don't know where I'd be without her!!
Thought it would be nice to share the long tube like body these cats have compared to the stockier build of northern bobcats.
Tom and I are real happy to help you. We consider you a close friend!
You have never been in "debt" to me or Tom old friend.
We were raised old school. Honesty, integrity and hard work.
You know, all the life lessons you graduate kindergarten with!
Here's a toast to the Deadhorse!
For keeping good old friends on the path to many future years of Traditional Hog Hunting Adventures!!!
Congrats to bill and irv nice cat! I had a chance at one two years ago that stalked my turkey decoy, still was exciting, I want a do over!
Bill,
That's a real cool cat! (I'm showing my age :) )
Todd
Beautiful cat, Bill!
I have enjoyed watching your adventures via your DVD's. It's great seeing father and son hunting together.
In 2006 my dad got me my first recurve, a Black Widow. He had a long legacy of bowhunting, but I really hadn't hunted with him. He got my brother and I matching bows, and a copy of one of your DVD's. We were to go on our first trad bow hunt together a few months later, but dad suddenly passed away unexpectedly, and we never went. That DVD he gave me always reminds me of the hunt we never went on, but not in a bad way. I really enjoy being able to experience those adventures with you vicariously, and see you enjoying hunting with your dad.
Keep it up!
Hey Bill, that is a dandy bobcat! Congratulations! No finer fella than Irv and he is a great guy to hunt with.
I just had a couple cancellations in my last bootcamp in April. Irv just signed up for one of the slots. So I'm pleased to get the opportunity to share a "camp" with him. bw
Thanks folks!
Archie the time spent with a father outdoors are some of the best life shaping moments one can experience. Thank you for the kind words. It makes me feel real good that one of my adventure DVDs can bring back such positive feelings and memories of your Dad. Thank you. Good hunting!
Nice Cat congats.
Thanks for the kind words you guys.
It's been cool to hunt with most of you.
Bill has volunteered some of his expertise in building hunt sites with me and they are working well.
In exchange, Bill has got a lot of great video.
Win win for both of us.
The new spots allow me to rest 1/2 of them for the next group.
It's amazing how Tradgang brings together such nice people.
Who would ever think I would be attending a deer hunting clinic with one of the legends at Barry's Boot Camp.
Looking forward to that for sure.
Irv
And looking forward to some more 3Dshoots with you Roman...aka Archie, and Dennis.
Hoping your little daughter is there with you again.
Was fun to watch a five year old get excited about hitting the target.
:)
At first she was quite reserved, later a chatterbox.
It's all about the memories.
Irv
Dropped the cat off at the taxidermist today.
He said about 4 months till its complete. I will post a pic when I get him back.
No problem Bill, you are welcome anytime at the Dead Horse.
Glad you could get it done on that cat.
I missed one near the back gate last season. I can still see the cat take off as I released the arrow.
Dalton saw a big tom there a month ago, it may have been the same one.
Nice
Irv
When you volunteered over and over to let Tom and Myself come down and hunt whenever and wherever we wanted...
How could we refuse!!!!
A lot cheeper than paying us
Hey Bill....saw a big bobcat last night out of your portable that you hung on the power line, way to far to shoot but COOL none the less
Cool!
That's a really fun place to sit, lots of game...
It was great having the help getting the hunt sites up and running, especially with my recent two broken ribs.
Due to the successes we have had, even with poor weather, I've had a lot of interest lately, and most of those seats are going to be full.
Just what we want without overdoing it.
I learned from you, Bill, that the biggest deterrent to a good hog hunt (other than poor equipment) is too much human intrusion.
A strict resting schedule may mean some guys don't get to hunt, but it also means that those that do...will have a good one.
With the shortage of good hunting grounds everywhere (not just for hogs)folks are learning the value of booking early.
There is nothing more fun for me than to watch each hunter visit and have a great time.
It's all about the memories.
That's cats so big I thought you shot a Florida panther!
Really good Florida bobcat to be sure.
If your headed to florida on a hog hunt, be sure to pickup
a hunting license like I did. They are not needed for the hogs, but for small game and furbearers you will need one. Well worth it to say the least!
