I took a little hike today, and did some stump shooting with an old Ben Pearson I picked up the other day. it was a little beat up but I rubbed it down and put some bull's eye shellac on it and it look almost new. It's a 62" 45# @ 28", no tips overlays at all, I had to make a big fat Dacron string. (For those that don't know me, I've always been partial to the Ben Pearson cougars, mustangs, colts, and palominos)

Here's a deep canyon I came up on, I so wanted to launch an arrow down this.

From where I shot, I thought this was a stump, but it was a rock, my arrow shattered.

Great Pics!..I like those old Cougars too...I've had a bunch over the years. Just recently refinished one and decided to add some phenolic tip overlays because there was a little damage to the glass near the tip. I made up a padded loop fast flite string and it shoots like a whole different bow from when I used Dacron. I love the way it shoots.
Awesome Mike! Wish I could have been there with you to enjoy that first hand. Thanks for taking us along via tradgang!
Looks like fun to me!
Nice digs there Mike
Good luck with the cougar

Great walkabout!
but you realize your post title made me think you went on a date strolling with a handsome older lady, which in an artistic archery related sense is not entirely untrue!
:biglaugh:
Great looking bow. thanks for sharing your adventure.
Those old bows were real plain Janes but they shot really well. I had a 55#'er years ago that shot a heavy arrow like nothing I have had since.
Nice pictures!
I liked that journey...and it sure did not look cold and wet.
BTW, a used Cougar was my first "real" bow back in the day.

Great Pics Mike!
Me too lol. :biglaugh:
No, I'm not young enough for that kind of cougar, those handsome old gals are only cougars if they're with a guy much younger than they are.
