OK Gang, this thread is for Texas Sweat Vets only. Please don't reply or ask details, etc on this thread if you are not a Sweat Vet. I'll bring the other thread back up for all the new guys. First things first, I need all Texas Sweat Vets who have ever attended to let me know if you wish to return this year. VETS ONLY.......
I will have very limited lodging and will not have room for all Vets under one roof.
Dates are: Feb 18-23, 2008. Odessa, Texas
$900-Lodging-evening meals.
For camp spots-$625-electricity and water until breakers start tripping. Toiletry same as last year. Also there are several covered barns that have electricity and would be nice and dry to camp.
If you plan to attend please say YES and say whether you wish to lodge or camp. Lodging will go very fast! CK
YES and Lodging :D
Yes Lodge - but will camp if you get tight on space.
Yes and Lodging
YES..YES......Campin :scared: :scared:
YES YES YES YES YES YES {Put me in coach I'm ready to play) :bigsmyl: Lodging, can be knee gotiable :D Planning on Co Piloting with Huntit Dave. Granted he lets me in the truck.
Brent
Can Rattlesnakes get into tents? :jumper:
Thanks for being flexible Vets. If it comes down to it I may have to allow the 2 and 3 time Vets first dibbs. Thanks again! Sure glad to know I'll see you guys again! CK
Yes and lodging.
Most of us are old just don't flex us to much :biglaugh: :biglaugh:
Yep and camping with Vance......
Yes! Yes! Yes! Lodging if possible, but I'll sleep under a bush if I have to!
The countdown begins.......Only 123 to go! :bigsmyl:
Curtis, Ill have to take a rain check this year. Got a Florida hunt scheduled for 2008 that's going to sap the hunting funds. Thanks for the offer.
Yes, yes, yes!!!!! & camping with Vance & Bob. (Snore-a-palooza! :D )
Vance, How big is your tent :scared: Doc
Fancy a cosy-up Jeff ;)
I'm in EH! Lodging prefered but will hunt 24hrs a day if needed.
Yes, absolutely, lodging if it's still avaialable. Otherwise I will drag the tin teepee along.
There if only to protect my snooring championship form wanna be's. Put my cot where the best accoustics are.
Curtis....You failed to mention whether or not, that YOUNG LOVELY will be trackin fer us again :bigsmyl:
Hmmm, Mapquest says right around 1,300 miles. That almost sounds doable - might be able to camp after all.

Sure do hate to miss this yearly trip. :campfire:
Surely you can get out of whatever it is you're doing Joe?? Throw a sickie, anything! You gotta be there mate!
Aw c'mon JC. It ain't like the boss was gonna fire ya.... ;)
TTT. Going to run this another two weeks and then sew things up. CK
AAHHHUUUMMM...It's his other boss he is trying to please this year..... ;)
Took all his vacation time for hunting trips this year...it's my turn for a little time next.
Sometimes a girl just has to put her foot down. You boys can have him the year after...maybe.
I hear ya, Miss Kim.
Don't keep him away too long, lest we boys decide we have to move the hunt to JC, since he can't come to the hunt...
Gawgia has hogs, right?
Have you ever been to Texas Miss Kim??
It's beautiful and warm at that time of year. Shopping is awesome in Dallas they say.
That AIN'T helpin me any Stinson! :scared:
Naw, she even offered to let me go when she found out it had been moved to Feb...but that's about impossible for me to get off that time of month. And I couldn't do Sweat as well as the week in FL I promised the family this year. I've cut Kim's & the boy's spring breaks short the last few years because of Sweat...had to even it out some this coming year.
Besides, I had to earn some "points" to cash in for the Quebec Quest, Vance's again, and who knows where else in '08. And then, there's australia hopefully with Whip in '09....and then..... ;)
I always look forward to catching up with you at the Sweat - won't be the same without you.
Well, can you at least send cookies???
The absolute hardest part of Hosting Texas Sweat is trying to make everyone's schedule work so that everyone can attend. This year I found myself constrained by a closed season on javelina starting Feb 24. I had to move TXS08 because of that. I certainly will miss you Joe. Looks like we'll miss a few annual guys this year. Too many hunts and too little vacation time.
Kim, I like your style!
YES!!!!!!! Camping is fine, That big Chevy truck won't get tired hauling as much as I need! :biglaugh:
LD
Irish....I will see what I can do in the cookie department. Maybe I can get a "package" to Curtis before he heads out.
Curtis, it's a tuff job trying to make plans that work for everyone. I know all about that! Don't worry, JC will be back in Texas before you know it.
Ya'll have fun and if I know many of you guys, you better start packing now!
That's part of the fun for JC...he makes a heck of a mess and spreads stuff all over the place. Packs, un packs, sorts, ho hums, and packs some more. THEN, after he thinks he is all set, I hand him a large container of cookies and double dog dare him to leave them behind. :saywhat: He just hates that....all his carful planning down the tubes for a few cookies.
That's how packing goes around here..... ;)
This will be interesting. I live in Midland, just 10 minutes from Odessa. A real life Trad Gang hall of fame in my neck of the woods. Cool.
p.s. February can be REALLY tricky in these parts, might be blowing 50 mph, snowing, or maybe 90 degrees, ya never know.
Sure will miss you there this year JC, although it does help some knowing we hope to be sharing other camps before long. I have to say I think you're making the right call though - those kids grow up way too fast as it is and those times can never be done again. Enjoy them while you can.
TTT
There may be some of these veterans from last years' Sweat out here chasing critters, flinging arras and just generally socializing.

I'm sure glad Vance did'nt get those blue rubber gloves out til it was time to leave  :scared:
Brent :jumper:
Man, if'n he was standing behind me with those rubber gloves on MY shoulders I think I'd be a little fidgity :scared: :scared: :scared:
I would be fidgity with Vance behind me at any time. Gloves or no gloves
Man, I'd give my left "---" to go back down there with you guys. (Cheaper than cash don't ya know.) I don't have any vacation now but I should be getting more after the first of the year.
When do you have to have a "solid" confirmation and what are the plans on payment? Half & half? All up front? By when?
Never saw so many bunnies in my life and bull frogs too!
Oh, camping for me if I can make it.
Really appreciate you keepin' us Vets in mind Curtis but I'm getting married next month (at 61yo, ain't that a kick). I've given her 7 years to figure out that I'm too old for her, but she jus don see it. Nevertheless, I plan to be retired and traveling in our 5th. wheel and can't make the commitment to the Sweat at that time as much as I'd love to. Will really try to plan for the 09 though. Best of luck to all.
