I have the KME on the way hopefully be here by the end of the week. My question is, do I need the broadhead jaws or do the standard jaws work fine on broadheads?
Thanks

I have used the standard jaws for everything and have never had an issue.

I have both and find I get a better result on my Cutthroat broadheads with the broadhead sharpener. Now I just use the standard jaws for my knives.

I think it depends more on what heads you are sharpening.
I take the blades off the ferrules on my broadheads, so the standard jaws work just fine, just like a knife blade.
If you have heads that the blade is not removable from the ferrule, then I think the broadhead jaws would be the thing to use. The broadhead jaws would hold the head at the correct angle so that the blade is perendicular to the sharpener.

Thanks for the replies. Going to be using it on Grizzly's. Once it gets here and I have some time to play with it, I'll see what works best for me.
Thanks again

KME works great on my Grizzly single bevel heads. I adjust the stone angle to the head bevel angle and then the burr on backside can be removed without moving the jaws. But for the standard 2 blade zwickeys it does not do so good for me because the jaws do not hold the blade horizontally straight because of the head taper from tip to ferrule. If anyone has ideas on how this can work on zwickeys I would like to know. For knives it does an outstanding job. My knives have never been sharper.

I think technique is a major factor...take it from one dummie that found out the hard way...
On harder heads, I was bearing down harder with the older diamond stones... the knife jaws had a bit thicker rubber grabber then the newer BH jaws.
The result was the head would move slightly due to MY downward pressure and I wasn't getting a consistent stroke.
I like how Ron and his Bro have updated the varied jaws to help those of us with flawed techniques improve outcome. If you let the stones do the work, as it's supposed to, I think you'll be fine. Some years back I was in the enviable position to get both the knife and BH sharpener so I just use the BH Sharpener and consequently, I didn't get the newer bh jaws...but I see their design would have improved my efforts greatly!
All I've done in recent years was update my stones/diamond slabs as better ones came available from Ron...

Don't forget, having the KME is only half the puzzle. Good diamond stones are the other half. If you have old regular stones it may work after a lot of time but you won't get the true benefit.
