I was in my closet last week and saw my bow in there. Hadn't thought about it in a long time. Too long.
I took it out and looked it over. It's a 60" recurve made for me by Jeffrey Archery, pulling 54#.
I don't remember how it was relegated to the closet, or really how long ago. I guess sometimes things just happen. We get wrapped around the axle with this clutter we call life and things fall to the side.
Well, whatever the reason, it's back out now. Later the same day that it called to me (what other explanation could there be?), I went to the book store at the mall and picked up a copy of Traditional Bowhunter magazine. It just seemed like the thing to do. Good reading, and a lot of ads to check out.
I got online and searched for clubs. The nearest archery club I found is about an hour up the road. I posted on their FB page, and was invited to come to a shoot on 6 February. That's now on my schedule.
I picked up a target, so now I'll see if I can revive enough motor memory to hit the proverbial broad side of a standard barn in the next couple of weeks. My expectations are for this to be for fun, not competition. Besides, my style is to compete against myself.
It's good to be back.

Welcome back Brohawk. Get that Jeffery out and let it breathe. Tom Jeffery is in the shop in Columbia almost every day and on a good day Owen comes around. They're happy to answer questions, help with matching up arrows, etc

That's Walk down memory lane for me Bro....Some years back, right after I got married I put my bow up in the rafters and didn't touch it for 6 years. Then on Father's Day in that 7th year I found myself wondering if my old crew of archery buddies was still getting together for breakfast before heading out to the local range. I don't know what gave me the bug again but I pulled down that bow..also a Jeffrey recurve by the way, and went find out.
I was too late for breakfast but the old crew was out at the range..some nearly fainted when they saw me walking across the field to the line lol. I remember my first shot, at 20 yards, was a 3" miss to the right...after not touching a bow for all that time. The bug bit me again...hard..and I haven't looked back since.
Welcome back to the game.

Pointer, that was the seven year itch. :D
I, too, had laid down my bows for those years of hormonal insanity. Fortunately, I went to an outdoor show locally, and there were two trad dealers there. I bought a Jeffery Mighty Mag Classic, and re-embarked on this fascinating journey.
Coincidentally, I bought this recurve from a guy named Howard Hill. (Not the famous one!)
