I've been writing 2016 on checks for a while now, but the year didn't really start for me until last night.
I picked up my Java Man Elk Heart from Gregg last night. As you can see in the pics, I haven't even had a chance to tie on some nock points yet. I'm going to do that before I shoot it later today and then, hopefully at a Trad bunny shoot at Elm Hall tomorrow. I've already shot two of Gregg's Elk Hearts and a Helms Deep, so I know what to expect. Oh yeah. Hickory stained maple veneers, cocobolo riser. By the way, those pics were not "PhotoShopped" other than to crop them. The cocobolo really is that nice and the maple has exactly the shade of brown I was hoping for. If I take it down and put it in my quiver, it doesn't stick up as far as the arrows :)
Am I happy? Does a bear defecate in the forest?

Congratulations! That is a very pretty bow! What part of the bow is hickory?
Nice wood choices.
None Rick, other than the hickory stain that Gregg used on the maple veneers. I wanted something with just a slight touch of red rather than gray, and fairly dark, but not so dark it hid the curly figure.
That is a sharp looking bow!
Congratulations
God bless,
Rodd
Oh it's the color of the stain on the veneers. I'll say it again, very cool looking bow.
Love it, he sure can make a bow!
Beautiful bow, hope you enjoy it!

Oh man! You got me drooling. I'm coming up soon I hope. I know our Hawaiian friend Ryan may be up before me, but you really got the juices flowing. I now know what I want for wood, but I have yet to settle on length. It's between 54" and 56". I'm leaning towards 56".
Nice!
That's a beautiful bow but then again I think that is the only kind of bow Gregg builds  ENJOY :clapper:
Mine is 54" and I draw just a hair over 28". If I drew 29" or more, I think I'd go with the 56".
I got up to the shop to shoot it this afternoon and I'm excited. Those rabbits better keep their heads down tomorrow, or my slow cooker is going to get turned on.
Real nice.
Beautiful Bow!
She's a beaut Clark!
Awesome...!! Gregg is a great guy...and super bowyer...!!
Very nice! Gregg is a superb bowyer!!
