It's been awhile since I've posted anything here. I've changed jobs and it's been a whirlwind for the last two months but the dust is finally starting to settle. So I figured I'd check in.
My daughter and I have joined a ten week league shooting the techno hunt. For those of you who don't know what this is, you shoot at live video of animals on a screen.
This was our second week and my score improved by a little more than 50 points from last week. My daughter shoots a wheelie bow and she is enjoying beating me but I had her sweating a little this time.
Bob,
Got a group of trads together and we shot one of those video types at Kinsey Outdoors in Etown one winter..Another guy and I actually won... his comment when I informed him was, "Those other teams must REALLY suck!" I couldn't have agreed more.
I'm sure it's improved since, but all they had were 125 points and I was tuned heavier. The angles and such were not always realistic... good quartering away shots didn't score well, etc... but not bad for winter league vs dots!
Have fun and keep that younger one sweating!
Doc,
That's where we are shooting. It has changed a great deal. The scoring areas are tighter and the arrow tracking is better. As for the shot angles, some are still quite sketchy.
I'm doing mainly to spend time with my daughter doing something we both love and for practice also.
Video archery is a lot of fun and a great way to spend winter months if you cant get after any critters.
I agree, Our video archery system locally will have you take some crazy shots but aside from that, it was always a great time.
Welcome back Bob, glad things are getting better for you.
Looks like fun and there is one a little less than an hour away. Going to have to try it!
Anything with family is a good thing!
Sorry we never connected when I lived in that area! Some things I miss now living in NE TN... semi rural living has some costs!
I recall making a few tremendous 1/4 away shots that it discounted as "poor shot"... Pffttt! Was a great shot, but the video jocks weren't hunters per se!
Have fun with your daughter! It will pay dividends down the road!
I grew up in Etown! Bought my first bow from kinseys. My dad used to take me there a lot when I was little and they were at the old location.
Either of you ever visit Trop back in the day? They had a great taxidermy shop down there. My dad was good friends with Bob the taxidermist. They have moved away from hunting and are all tactical now at their new location. My dad and I went in to buy our license and they looked at us like we were crazy.
my buddy I believe had a striper mounted by him.
