So I decided to go out for the last sit of the 2015 KS season. I already had my buck tag filled, but with a doe tag still in my pocket. I was not that serious as I had not even scouted in a few weeks. I went in portable looking for sign in the 4 day old snow. I found tracks in a place I suspected I might find some. It would make a good last day, last evening sit, so I quickly figured out a tree I actually used 3-4 years ago. I quietly trimmed a couple of small limbs and proceeded up the tree- maybe 12 feet off the ground tucked into a nice cedar. It was about 4 PM.
I looked at my phone to figure the most current sunset time. Looked like 5:08 so I had legal shooting until 5:38. As time ticked on I looked at my phone at 5:32. 6 more minutes until another season went into the history books. . . as I first heard, then saw a few deer working quickly my way. . .
2 minutes later. . . This is what I had to observe as I climbed down in the dark.

I quickly proceeded home where friends were coming over for the New Years Eve gathering/meal.
After fellowship it was about 10:30PM. I asked my wife if she would like to go help me track a deer. Though tired, she thought it would be a cool adventure.
We arrived at 11:00 PM. We got to the arrow and picked up the trail by 11:30. Though a little sparse at first, within 40 yards this is what we found as we could hear fireworks and gunshots going off at midnight- The NEW YEAR!

With meat loaded, my love of 33 years of marriage helped me bring in the NEW YEAR. What a night. Home by 1:00AM. Happy New Year TG.
