Just got this in the mail and tried to use it on my stingers. Not worth a flip. What do y'all use on your stingers? Looking for a cheaper sharpener. All I'm trying to do is get them decently sharp again and nothing is working. I have a smiths knife sharpener from years ago and it works like a.charm.. Thanks.
I use a KME knife sharpener on my stingers, and they will easily shave the hair off your arms with little force!
Just in case you did not know, the factory bevel on the Stingers is 19*. If you are trying a different angle than that, you will have to completely reshape the edge before you will ever get it sharp.

I use a Lansky sharpener works great on my stingers, what ever method you use its all about maintaining the angle to get them sharp.
Unless the edge is really dull and dinged, try stropping before getting into a stock removal method.
Often a few strokes on leather or even cardboard is all it takes with a Stinger.
Although I use carbide type sharpeners in the field and in my kitchen, I really don't think they are the best thing. ALWAYS follow up with stropping or better yet, running on a ceramic stick after using a carbide cutter.
I agree with Charlie... try stropping them first to see if that works before you rip up the edges.
Invest in a KME or similar sharpener and I think you will be delighted in what you can do to most edges.

Surprisingly, I have gotten them scary sharp with just an Accusharp used gently, some ceramic sticks, and a piece of cardboard. Fairly cheap system overall. I do agree I rarely need the Accusharp, it's def mostly about the ceramic sticks and stropping.
I gave my stinger buzzcuts,to my daughter for her rig after practicing with them they got pretty dull. I tried a smiths BH sharpener and a Magnus accusharp. Even a jewel stick.
What really got them scary sharp for me was the same method I use for my Zwickey Eskimos. The 3 rivers video on sharpening a two blade BH.
Black sharpie color, both edges take a file an lightly file off,the black. Then light with a jewel stick then leather strop and to really finish off top of you leg while wearing jeans.
Watch the 3 rivers video.
Accusharp was recommended my Magnus if I recall correctly...just a handful of light strokes per blade will get them shaving hair.
I just run mine across a small Doufold diamond sharpener. Most times on the fine side. They get shaving sharp.
