Slab source?
« on: December 08, 2020, 04:33:37 PM »
I have looked a few flint knapping suppliers and I'm not seeing much in the way of slabs. Anyone know of a good source?

Google Craig Ratzat. Can't remember his business name. There is also Kentucky Flintworks. I have dealt with both.  This summer try and get to a knap in. That way you can look at what you are buying and bundle prices are usually better.

neolithics.com is his website I believe. I looked there and it was pretty limited on slab material.

You may want to call Craig and ask him. We set up next to him in Ohio every summer (when allowed, lol)and he is loaded with slabs. Maybe his web site isn't up to date. Also look at flintlnappers.com.

Jim, I found a few slabs and pre-shaped slab triangles for points if you want them. Send me a PM with your contact info.

Only knapped on new years eve but the material is awesome. Oddly that slab of obsidian broke in half on the first strike of the bopper. It must have had a minute freeze fracture or something. One of the halves did the same thing. VERY unusual for a piece that thick. I'm showing a friend of mine how to knap and he got one of the glass preforms skinned on one side. When it warms up again I will get back after it. Thank you so much! I have some points picked out to send you Pat.
