Kevin I started the thread on the banquet that was talked about earlier. Hope we get some participation. I'm not certain what you had in mind but I guess you could put out a general post out to the membership identifying the Wisconsin thread for discussion on the banquet. They probably have to register to participate but they could observe without registering I would guess?

That would be the Wisconsin Traditional Archers Banquet.
2013 Wisconsin Traditional Archers Banquet
Saturday, Feb. 16th, 2013
Returning to the Madison Marriott West with it's great facilities and large convention area for vendors, raffles and shooting area.
Keynote Speaker:
Nathan Andersohn, Colorado Traditional bowhunter who has pursued most of our big game species and has written many articles for Traditional Bowhunter Magazine over the years.
If you've missed it before try to join us and gather with a couple hundred of your best friends.
-
I would also note that Jerry Karbon has made contact and it has been confirmed that Jack Zwickey will be attending to speak at one of our afternoon seminars. Great history there, should be great!
-
We are always looking for quality donations to make our banquet a success and you can make contact with me regarding that if you have interest at, . You can become a sponsor by donating $300 retail value of product or $250 cash. A sponsorship gets you two banquet tickets, a vendor table if you need one and recognition in our printed program as well as participation in the Sponsor Raffle that has great prizes. We are also looking for quality vendors in the !0,000 sq. ft. vendor area at the Marriott. We will probably need to pick and choose here but contact me anyway and we'll determine availability. Very good facility!
-
Cant wait.....Looking forward to it as always!
-
Joe B, I was trying to find time for Joe L., Jerry and myself and maybe you to meet up to talk sponsors and venders but timing is tough with hunting getting in the way :D . Looks like the end of Sept we might be able to find some time to find a middle ground site.
-
Bruce, Thanks for getting this thread started!
I know that True South Adventures want to be a sponsor again this year. They are hoping to have a table in our vendor area this time.
I plan on donating a guided Trad Turkey hunt for the banquet, plus one of those custom 4 bow racks like I have at home.
-
I'm in, let me know when??
-
Kevin, without revealing too much, I did make contact with Scott about possible sponsorship and he seemed positive, but wanted to wait until later to commit.
-
FYI...I was at Vortex last week on the way to my lease and dropped of my bino, I spoke with Mark, just wanted to thank him in person for last years donation! He seems to be on board this year again!
-
Great job! On the way back from Bayfield last week I stopped at a Wisconsin treestand manufacturer and gave them the pitch. I followed up with an email so we'll see how that works out.
-
I know I have been out of sight and sound for awhile, just letting everyone know I am looking forward in helping out again with this years banquet. And will be a sponsor once again.
-
Was hoping you were still on board. at some point we need to purchase two 10 x 30 backdrops for the shooting range. We got permission from the WTA board this summer. Paul if you can get me the price I'll let Tom know so that a check can be cut.
-
Bruce...what Treestand Co did you talk to??
-
I'm beginning to wonder whether we should be listing our contacts online. Don't want to create potential problems. I'll PM you.
-
By the way this thread idea was Jerry Leveille's, so thanks Jerry this may work out great!
-
Sure thing. Somehow this feels like a set-up for the fall guy :biglaugh: I hope that sarcasm comes through the keyboard.
-
We can keep this discussion to Banquet highlights, happenings, and announcements to keep people in the loop.
I'm looking forward to getting to work on this event!
-
Looking forward to coming back to the WTA banquet this year after "having" to go on a hog hunt at banquet time last year.
-
Looks like we'll be raising the Bahr a little this year.
-
Just got into for use with our banquet planning.
-
Doug Curler, up in Deerbrook,
-
Tater, welcome aboard brother!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome aboard Tater!!! :archer2:
-
I sent an email to you Jerry, Joe B and JoeL to meet in the next few weeks to talk sponsors and vendors. If we find a time we may meet midway like in Waukesha Co.
-
So who's coming to the banquet?
I am very interested in hearing Cliff Zwickey speak about all things Zwickey broadhead. That and trying to win a few items in the raffles and a silent auction or two!!!
-
Hope everyone will be able to attend this year. We're sure looking forward to Jack Zwickey and Nathan Andersohn as our speakers during the banquet. We'll be having about 8 raffles taking place in the vendor area as well as vendors, exhibitors, a silent auction, shooting area for the kids and to try out the bows from our Wisconsin bowyers. Footed Shaft will be there with their well stocked trailor. We have an original oil painting created for WTA by Ray Kohler that will be one of the raffles and he will also be a vendor India association with a pottery artist who also created some very special traditional archery pieces. I also heard from Mike Hoffman who has created a one of a kind WTA glazed plate that he is very proud of and this will be raffled at his booth. His wife Karen will be displaying her very special bead work.
-
This is just a few of the things going on during the day with several more raffles and auctions in the evening. Not that we need anything special to entertain a gathering of traditional archers. If you have questions let Jerry or me know or ask them here.
-
When is the banquet this year? I always loose my stuff when I need it.
Bob.
-
Feb. 16th at the Marriott Inn just off the beltline in Middleton
-
not India association, it should say in association.
-
Anyone can go to the WTA website an get the information and the registration form for the banquet
-
Just a.reminder that we have a special room rate of $93/ might but that is only available until January 25th so get on the stick! Also the WTA bucks which are used at the banquet give you value for your money and are only available with ore registration. We do take the real cash at the banquet so you'll never be left out.
-
Reservation made: Check
Filled out registration form: Check
Coming up with some dough: working on it
-
Sent in my registration and request for some WTA bucks. Like that program, gets me a head start on things.
Who do I contact for a silent auction donation item? I have a framed wildlife print from a WI artist I'd like to donate. Would I just bring it day of the banquet in the early AM? Can get a pic of it to someone if I need to?
-
That would be great Mike. Just need to know the details on the print so we can have the bid sheet and space laid out for it on Friday. My email is bhaukom@gmail.com

Deadline coming up this Friday to get the reduced rate for hotel. Move it or lose it.
-
2 days left to get a good rate so you can stay close to the "good times"!
How's the bow board shaping up? I've got a few WTA Bucks with there name on it for that one.
-
We've got 8 bows for the bow board. Includes an RER, Dwyer, NewWood, McDonald, Deathwish, Predator, Fedora and a bow made by Ricke and Halsted.
-
For anyone that has made room reservations and didn't get the WTA special room rate, make sure you call the hotel this weekend and request the special WTA rate. They goofed and charged some people the regular rate. They are extending the special rate through this weekend because of the error.
Call ASAP !!
-
10 days and counting!!!!
-
Well we have plenty of prizes due to many generous members. Hopefully we'll have just as many generous buyers.
-
We're getting close so time for a roll call.....
Who's coming??
Please be sure to introduce yourselves. I'll be the bald(ing) guy running around with Bruce.
-
It's the event of the year - wouldn't miss it!
As has been the custom recently, this banquet just keeps getting better and better. This is shaping up to be the best yet. Registrations are at an all time high, and wait until you see the prizes that have been rounded up.
Wow!!
-
Have a great Time, wish I could be there.
-
Dad and I will be there, Jay and Bernie Bjorklund. We're very much looking forward to it, see you there.
-Jay
-
Karrie and I will be there. It will be a great weekend!
-
Matt I have a picture of you son shooting the indoor range at Sherwood on the Sherwood thread on this site. Great form, must have a very good teacher.
-
Hello all, sorry I will not be able to make it, my fault for not checking on when the date was. But on the other hand my 5 year old grandson has been asking me now for a month to take him to the youth archery shoot at the Rib Mountain Bowmen. So I am committed to taking him there on the 16th.I would like to get more involved with the WTA. My son Charlie has been a very big part of getting me off the wheel and back to the stick. I truely do enjoy shooting. I am involved in other charities and work a ton of hours, but would like to do what I can for the WTA. I missed last years banquet due to bad weather.
Good luck with your banquet and hope to get to meet some off you in the future. Wondering if you will be having a booth at this years Deer Clasic in Wausau on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th this month?
-
We won't me at that one Chuck. Weekend after the banquet is tough to get a booth together.
-
Totaly understand, I have been on the committee with the NWTF for the last 10 years and just had our banquet last week. So now working to get this put together now. Just was hoping to meet some of you good folks there. I have a farm just west of Madison, so it would have worked out for me to travel back and forth for the weekend with you. But can not disapoint my grandson either. He already has 3 long bows to his name. Catching up to me. Will be a fun day, none the less.
Will you be having any events coming up after the banquet?
-
Chuck, there is a shoot at Dale Moores next Sat. The info is on the shoot thread just a bit below this one.
-
That is the day of the Deer Clasic that I will be working at. I hope there will be dates in the future that will work. Thank you for the info. Seems like there is never enough time for more fun stuff.
-
One more day. Can't wait for the chance to catch up and meet some new "old" friends. See you there.
-
See everybody at the banquet.
Safe driving

What a great time! Thanks to all the folks on the banquet committee for their time and effort, it sure paid off!
There sure seemed to be a lot of kids this year which was awesome to see!
-
I agree Joe, I think a special thanks needs to go out to Bruce Haukom for taking control of this process. I'm pretty sure he must have had a few gray hairs but the end result was an organized, efficient and on-schedule event. I never heard one grumble from anyone all day.
Thanks Bruce, great job.
-
Yeap, Bruce did an awesome job spearheading this, he sure put a lot of time in! Everyone involved thank you!
-
A fun event; a good effort by all involved. Hope Bruce is relaxing with his feet up; good job Bruce!
Won a Fedora bow off of the bow board. Joe sold me the ticket. Thanks, Joe! :jumper:
-
Bruce is THE man. Nice work sir!! Anybody got any pictures?
Time for me to take a nap and then maybe go to bed.
-
Many thanks to Bruce, his "staff" and the multitude that contributed to the banquet!!! From what I could see everything came together without any problems and everyone had a good time. These banquets are turning into a great big family reunion. The best part is we are like minded in our passion for shooting the stick bow.
Many thanks to Nathan Andersohn for coming to be our speaker. His presentation on sheep hunting was very down to earth and he emphasized the rewards that the challenges and beautiful country gave him.
I was very pleased to see that there were many kids in attendance. This was good to see. I hope they show up at the shoots.
I wish I had pics to post but I forgot my camera. Please post pics if you have them.
-
Yes it was a great event. I missed the last few years and thought the new venue was really nice. Thanks to eveyone who helped out, your hard work really showed. Maybe next time I'll win something!
-
Our group had a great time. Thanks to all that made it happen! Really like this location best of all that we have had. I sure hope we are going back next year to this same location.

I sure have to agree, but I can't figure out how you could tell that he got any more gray hairs????   :biglaugh:

I had the pleasure to talk to Dave Peteren for a while at the Kalamazoo show. He stated that of all the traditional venues he has been to Wisconsin ranks at the top. He was the guest speaker a few years back and the memories are still fresh in his mind. Although I was not able to attend I heard it was once again a well put together show. Nice job to all involved and I look forward to attending next year.
-
Congrats to everyone who helped prepare this banquet... looked awfully darn successful to me! My pictures didn't turn out too well, so if anyone has any good banquet photos that you wouldn't mind being used in The StumpShooter, please send them my way. Good to see everyone.

Joe Brehm was taking a bunch. He looked like he knew what he was doing with the camera so he should have a couple good ones.
