Had a good morning out in the forestry.  Went to a place I scouted in spring of 2023 that had good sign. Knew there were several kinds of oaks that should be dropping on it.  I found a couple nice white oaks, but hardly anything except caps underneath. I decided to go farther and glad I did. Had a small white oak and a red oak that were dropping decently. I put my stand up on the small white oak and got ready.  I hadn’t even pulled my arrow out of my quiver when I heard leaves and here they come. Had 5 does coming through. The first two went by too fast, but the third one stopped.  I pulled back my new Northern Mist American I got from Steve last month and made a good shot. The Zwickey no mercy did well and she went about 100yds.  I had to debone and pack out which was a first for me.  It was impossible to drag out. Too many blowdowns and ridges.  About 3/4 mile from the truck so not bad. Beautiful morning!

I heard that Craig worked with the new owner to transfer the business to Tennessee.  I’m not sure if or how soon the shop will reopen.  I don’t believe the new owner is a bow builder, but I do know that he is currently on tour with his band Mercy Me.  As a fellow bass player, I’m inclined to believe that the new owner will do a great job carrying on the Hill name.  That said, I don’t expect to see any new bows being built any time soon.

Not sure if i knew you were a bass player so that makes two of us here.  But im curious about the new owner though i will try to get in touch with him

Three of us.  At least.

Any luck in finding a maker to take on the project?

For hunting I shoot the Heritage 150's and I have a couple of dozen at 28",  two dozen each at 27.5" and 26.5". Thankfully with my 26" draw and brass inserts the shorter ones became my hog arrows. Once they are gone i'm not sure which ones I'll shoot but I do have some Gold Tips 55/75 and Carbon Tech Rhino's.

Hoping for some help Id'ing this bow. My first recurve was just deemed unsafe to continue shooting and looking at this as a replacement. Hoping to take it by a shop to have looked at, but also thought the eyes here could have some insights.

Thank you!

I like Grizzly momentums, they have a sweet outsert and you can get them heavy very easily. I've shot a few bucks with them and they haven't
failed me yet.
