Despite all my best efforts and dedication, it wasn't to be this year. Honestly, I'm a little disappointed because of my fondness for venison steaks on the grill but I've learned that success is measured in many ways. I saw a good number of deer, I found a new travel route and moved a treestand to take advantage of it and last but not least, I enjoyed the sights, sounds and smells of the Michigan woods in the Fall. Now rabbits and squirrels. Not too shabby!!!

Trust me it could be WAY worse! lol. I too came up empty handed. I didn't even see any deer this season. I think a lot of it had to do with no crops and the neighbors feeders. The acorns were very heavy this year at my place and I think most of the deer movement was after dark. Well I can't wait for next season to get here now.

Well I came up empty handed this year also but it wasn't for the lack of opportunities to harvest a few does. However with the grandkids harvesting 7 deer themseleves I wasn't going to arrow a deer unless it was a decent buck. Of course I only had 1 buck come into bow range and it was just a little spike and I mean little. So I watched him, mommy and sister stroll on by. All and all my family had an awesome harvest this year, we where truly blessed and got to bless some others as well.

It was a great year. No deer with the recurve but did get a total of 59 different days in the woods.

I do have to say that the full inclusion of the oversized mouse traps really made it tough.   :banghead:

Too much pressure too early.   "[dntthnk]"   It won't take long for public land to be over-hunted if this continues.

Arwin, I totaly agree with you. Even though we did great as far as harvesting deer, we seen very few deer in October and the deer we got in November we had to work for.

The early seasons ruined our honey hole behind the house as people including my grandkids where blasting deer from the middle of September to October 1st. So when bow season got here deer where in there Novemeber 16th nocturnial mode.

We decided next year our property is BOW HUNTING ONLY area. We will take the kids to state land or ask the farmer that used to let the kids hunt to hunt there for the youth hunt.

But I am afraid your right Arwin, bowhunting in Michigan will not be the same, matter of fact we really don't have a bow season anymore   "[dntthnk]"
