Hunted in Bangor over a cut corn fields Friday morning and afternoon. Nothing moving. Hunted Gr. Junction Saturday and again nothing moving.

Oh baby! At least I now know how harsh of conditions I can endure on stand. I was able to sit for a couple of hours, Monday. I saw no deer movement but the squirrels were out in force. I had to try a couple shots and am amazed how close I can get to those dudes and still miss.What a challenge. Because of the wind and cold, I decided to do some staking and just plain poking around. I'm glad I did.I found a well defined trail on my property that I never would have thought would be there.I've never seen deer in that area. Lesson learned; never try to second guess a whitetail in winter after firearm season. It is what it is and you better adapt.A stand relocation is now in the cards.I'm running out of time and hate moving stands but this year has been very unusual as far as deer patterns go so the ball is in my court.

Yes Dave, you are right about the memories. We had a great time this year with the exception of the 75 degree temps in October, and even then we had fun hanging out with everyone. Dave you will need to write the story about your doe this year for Trad Trails. We could use a few more articles in the magazine.

You look totally ready, Arwin. I'm going to be able to squeeze in 4 days in a row before the season ends. This is the first time in years I've been able to hunt more than a single day here and there. Being a pastor, my weekends are fragmented. Monday's are all I have rain or shine. Take or leave it. I've chosen to take it with thankfulness.This is a great opportunity. I'm looking forward to it.

Thanks Tim. Good to know. I'm still hoping for a shot opportunity. This has been an unusual year for me. It just seems different and I don't know why. Most of the normal travel routes are not being used, so I'm a bit out of synch. I'm going to need to adjust and move a stand if necessary.

I`ve been too busy with work, and getting ready for Christmas to do much of anything.(during daylight)

Tommorrow morning is spoken for, BUT, after some "tune up" shooting, I will be getting out with my kids for the afternoon.

I will be out the back door after coyotes in a few minutes. Took the first one of the winter on Wednesday night, but tonight, I have a quiver full of BFM`s (big fat Magnus) and I`m taking my longbow. It`s cloudy, but with the snow, I can see just fine.    :D     (I have some back-up guns coming with) My kids now fit in all my cold weather clothes, and I am starting over in getting geared up for the cold.     :D

Got out tonite, cold, but stayed toasty, really liking those asbell pullovers, no deer spotted tonite, needed to be in another stand, but need a west or north wind to hunt that corner, deer were hitting that corn field good last night, maybe a better wind Sunday night. Todd

I was perched at the "headwaters" of a beaten path in the snow. Lots of meandering tracks in a really thick area, that all converge and become a trail.

One lone deer came from behind me and just stopped. It must have gotten my scent. I could turn my head and see it just enough to tell it was a big doe.

After about a half hour of it standing there, it decided to snort so loud that maybe I would fall to my death. My arrow DID fall off the shelf of my bow, and fell to the ground.

It is sharp again, and ready.

 I was bowhunting on the last night of muzzleloader tonight. No shots presented as this was a sneak attack hunt and nothing was pruned fully.

 You can bet it will be spiffed up for next season!!

Got in stand a little late today, saw 6-does on the way in, one worked her way to within 20yds of me, caught me w/ no hat or mask, and standing between two big pines, was ready to shoot, but she looked right at me, blew and left quick.
  Around 5pm had a pretty 6pt stop twice in shooting lanes, once at 18yds, and again at 6-7yds, needed 4pts. on one side, so he got the pass, hope he makes til next year should be a nice one.
  Might get back out weds or thurs. was nice in the woods tonite cold and quite, except for the 8-9 gun shots tonite, good to be out, Todd

Sunday evening was beautiful.

With the lack of wind it was almost balmy.

The sun went down and the moon came up without any critter of any sort moving around me.

Hunted Saturday morning, bumped a couple bedded in a weird spot on the way in..hunted Sunday night, saw two does and passed on one.

Wow! I had my all time high for deer sightings yesterday. 24. I had a herd of 14 just on the other side of the creek that forms the East boundary of my property. There was a heavy racked 6pt. hanging out with them so maybe one of the does is in estrous or maybe he's just thinking he'll get lucky if he hangs out with the girls long enough. The crazy thing is, my property changed almost overnight. The deer are once again using their December travel routes. I was all prepared to move a stand when I arrived yesterday only to find trails worn to bare dirt were there was literally not one track last Monday.Of course not one of these 24 deer came close enough for a shot but my body was so filled with adrenalin from seeing so many deer I'm not sure I could have stood up. My hopes are high for the week after Christmas. I have several days in a row I'll be able to hunt. Rare for me.

Got a shot off tonite, had 4-does come by right around time to start thinking about getting down. Lead doe was a nice one but only gave me quartering toward shot , and to close for a good angle, she stopped and starting looking my way. The other three broke out of there line, third doe back was the one I've been after for awhile now. The one with the big blaze on her muzzle, she stepped off to the right, and gave me a broadside shot at less than twenty yards.
  I drew anchored and sent one, couldn't see the arrow in flight, sounded like I hit her, she flew out of there, the other three just took a couple of bounds back into the pines, Got down and looked for my arrow and sign of a hit, found neither, went back to truck for a better light and still found zip, followed her tracks for about 60-70yds to field edge, no blood, shined light in the field and saw alot of deer, and backed out. Looked for arrow some more and found nothing ? snow is 4-5 inches deep, going back in a.m, to try and find my arrow. Get a better look in the morning, hopefully will just find a clean wet arrow under the snow, thinking I just shot over her, and heard the arrow smack frozen ground. Todd
