Question about MTAR
« on: April 22, 2019, 08:15:30 PM »
I moved to Minnesota a three years ago and have just found out about the MTAR event.  My question is will it be held again in 2019? Same place? If so where and when? I’m in Hibbing and would love to come down and check it out, do some shooting etc.  I’m  just trying to plan in advance and make sure I’ve got time off of work.

Tod,
I was assuming it was a traditional archery event.  From what I read it was held at Chad Holm’s Place.  I saw it listed just a few posts down on here. In fact, you were one of the attendees.

Well, it's nothing formal. Just a few of us getting together to camp out, shoot bows, slingshots, handguns.  Last year Tod brought an atlatl.   You can bring a project to work on (we used to build bows, but that was too much like work).
Last few years it's been the first weekend in August, but I think Chad was considering changing that this year, unless he's just plain sick of us all messing up his place;)

MTAR, Minnesota Traditional Archery Rendezvous, formally known as Bow Building Weekend. It is certainly a highlight of summer! Good people, good times and good food! I will be cooking wild hog this year (and cheesecake of course!) As buckshot said, Chad may be changing the date but I'm sure he will chime in soon. Please join us.

It will be the weekend of August 17th.  I’m moving it a week later in hopes that it will work better for people’s schedule.

We have been doing this gathering for about 13 years.  We typically have about 25 people.  All are welcome to come and camp out.  Hopefully you can make it, Dave.
