Turkeys

Anybody make it out for opener? Can't hit it until Saturday, but both my oldest and I have MN tags for the first time. Have access to 40 acres south west of kettle river, not a lot of birds but enough to make the drive down from Duluth worth it. Hopefully...

Not yet, should get my license tonight.  I'm moving and had to go get my arrows and calls out of storage. I should make it out Saturday morning.

Been out numerous times, called and called the other day, my friend and I stood up to get our decoys to leave and walking back to the blind we see a tom walking towards us in the adjoining field.  He obviously saw us and left but renewed my spirit just need the rain to go away now.

My son and I are having a great season.  I've called in about 10 birds so far, mostly Jakes.   My son shot a big  old Tom in Wisconsin with the shot gun and has been trying to get a Mn Tom with his bow.  I shot a 7.5" MN Tom with my bow a couple weeks ago.  Used a string tracker which worked great.   This weekend I'm going to try and run over to Wisconsin to shotgun one.  Chad

Not a whole lot of action for us yet. Got goose-egged the first Saturday we hunted. Then heard quite a few birds on the roost and after fly down but they never left the neighbors. Trying again this weekend. Nice work, Chad!
