The Kanati longbow is a great bow similar to the Shrew longbow.  I killed my best buck with a Kanati and I wish I still had it but it was getting to heavy for me to pull as I started getting older so I sold it.  Going from a recurve to a longbow does have a learing curve but I think the Kanati is one of the best to make the transition.

OK, I have killed animals with bows of all sorts of grips. I've never found a grip that made me shoot bad.  However, I do have some I really like that are 'comfortable'. I don't prefer  total straight grips, dish is good, and do not like grips with palm swells.  Yes, I can shoot the daylights out with them, but I hate hunting with them as they are like carrying a bow running through a softball.

I have shown/demonstraited shooting by holding the bow by the lower fade outs many times over the years when explaining how I grip the bow.

This is what KirK is talking about... my description....

When I grip the bow properly, as the pressure is applied by the draw, I 'Yeild' to the grip. The yield gets a little more fine tuned as I get a little further into the draw. I let the pressure of the bow grip go where it needs to, I don't force it.  Hope that makes sense.

Here are two different grips I've done really well with....

This is my '1 out of 4' MOABs grip, the 60#er.  I've killed way more animals with this bow/grip that any.....

And this is my latest bow/grip that has been on a tear that's close to being 2nd soon..  Centaur....

Side by side...

Ah, nice to know that picking riser wood isn't like picking veneers.
