Powder Horn-3
« on: March 17, 2020, 08:40:08 AM »
I built this horn late last year for the St Judes auction.  The cow horn measures 10" long and is scrape finished.  It will accommodate more than enough powder for a day's plinking or match shooting or hunting.  A sugar pine wood block was shaped for the outer plug, walnut stained and then Tru-Oil clear coated.  The plug is epoxied to an inner sugar pine plug, and decorative brass brads surround the horn at the perimeter of the outer plug.  An ebony violin peg secures the horn's spout.  I braided cotton string to make the horn's strap that attaches to butt plug iron staple that I propane heated to add a decorative twist.

I was the lucky bidder on the one for st.jude a couple of years ago, the workmanship is superb. You could not find a nicer Horn for this kind of money, and you also get to help the kid's!!!

The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.
