Mahalo nui loa for putting all the great information on this site.  I'm a new member, and found this site yesterday, and was totally excited about the Hawaiian link!!!  In the long draw out process of moving back to Waimanalo from California.  Also just recently go into traditional archery (recure bow) been shooting compound in the past.  So have a lot to learn!
So Ryan, sounded like you just put this site together recently.  Thanks for the hard work, and very beneficial for all of us.
Noticed you have a DAS recurve in one pic, how you like 'em?
Will be in Oahu later this year, would like to get more info overall re: traditional bow hunting in Oahu..... mostly pigs.        Easy Ryan.  Aloha.     :shaka:

Thank you for checking it out!

Feel free to call anytime.  808 294 4840

I'm also at Everything Archery Hawaii a few days during the week.  You may stop by to talk story there too.  It's one of the local pro shops.

I don't have the DAS anymore, but that bow was a shooter.  If you like to "tinker" with your gear, that's one to get. The adjustability on that thing is amazing...

Aloha!
Ryan

When I was in Oahu for the annual Uke festival in Kapiolani Park during this summer, I was thinking about dropping by at Everything Archery...but was running around too much....too little time, and too much to do.  Was doing a lot of OC-1 and kayaking last trip.

Thanks for the invite to call and drop by to talk story.  Definitley would like that, and will do that my next trip back to Waimanalo.  Hopefully Nov or Dec.  Will let you know.

So do you guys carry different kinds of take down recurves at Everything Archery.  Which is your favorite now?

Aloha,  Roger

We primarily sell compounds and beginner recurves at Everything Archery.

My wife and I are currently shooting Stalker Stickbows by South Cox.   www.stalkerstickbows.com (http://www.stalkerstickbows.com)

I've been shooting them for the past few years now and have been really happy with them.

I will be in Hawaii for my nephew's high school graduation in June.  I will be staying near Pearl Harbor, as my brother-in-law is an Admiral there.  Any pig/goat hunts around at that time?

Makua will be open for goats and pigs.
Pali will be open for pigs.
There will be a few other open areas, but  Makua or the Pali  will be your best  bets.

Can't forget the birds.  Last weekend of bird season.  Closed to 20 on an Erkel and missed!  Was supposed to be scouting for goats, but ended up hunting.

Just got orders to the island of O'ahu for the next four years or so and I was worried I wouldn't be able to go hunting very much but it looks like there's quite a few critters to chase out there! Much more optimistic about getting out there now! Thanks!

I am have been in Oahu for the last three weeks and have another two left. I am visiting from Alberta, Canada. I don't have any gear but if anyone is going out bow fishing or shooting and would mind being a guide for a day PM me, I would love to tag along. Thanks.

I won't be doing any bow fishing or hunting in the next few weeks, but we do have a couple archery ranges that you could visit. There's one in Kapolei, Waipio, Hawaii Kai and an indoor 20yd range at Everything Archery.

Ryan, this is my first post on a trad forum. I see this thread hasn't gotten much love lately, but I saw your youtube videos and heard your podcast on the Push and thought I'd throw this out there.

I'm stationed on O'ahu and want to start hunting some of these public units.

Probably Unit C (Haaula) this weekend Columbus Day, or maybe the units north of Hawaii Kai.

Eventually, I want to do a goat hunt up on the west side. I heard that is a really demanding hunt, so I'm not going to attempt it until I get more info.

Can you (or anyone on here) tell me what they would suggest starting with? Even a suggestion on where to park my car would be helpful.

Also happy to join anyone going out, or have someone tag along.

Mahalo,

-Camacho

Here's the parking for Makua Kea'au. I marked it with an X. You need to park on the dirt on the left side of the road. It's on the opposite side of the church. You'll need to call DLNR for the gate combo. They typically change the combo every week during archery season.

Ryan, Thanks for the help. My friend and I had a great time in there. We didn’t get close enough to connect with anything, but I’ll keep trying.
