Nikon Cameras
« on: December 14, 2013, 11:01:00 AM »
I was told that All Nikon Dslr camera bodies were made of magnesium not just the high end ones . Is this Fact ?? Also, What are some salient points to consider between a Nikon 7100, versus the New 5300. I know about the difference in mirrors , focal points (for auto focus), the articulating view screen etc. Do these things break off? As I have stated on another Thread  most all camera shops in the Dallas area, are now null and void (only 3 left). And are a good distance away. I've held the 7100 and a 5200, but the new 5300 is not in captivity in this area. Does Anyone have any personal experience with this model ??

Sorry, the only model I am familiar with is the 7100. That's the one I have. I can highly recommend it. it has extremely high resolution. The ISO range is fantastic. I regularly push it up to 2000-3200 and get great results. A big thing the 7100 has is a focus motor in the body so you can use older auto lenses. the 7100 is one step below the FX full frame cameras. That being said most of us including myself are not going to be able to tell a tremendous of difference between 7100 and the 5300. I think most of the differences are going to be in the gadget like controls you will have over exposure.

good luck.

http://snapsort.com/compare/Nikon-D5300-vs-Nikon-D7100

I have a D300S but am looking to step to a 7100.
better MP, better processor, better speed, heavier than 5300, 5300 is a consumer grade camera/7100 is between a consumer grade and professional grade Nikon, body is bigger/heavier.

really is a personal choice, what you will be doing with it and what features are important (such as the rotating viewer if self filming)
