How about an update on how WI Trad hunters have done in the woods this fall ??? I'll start ---

I was able to shoot a 2 1/2 yr old 8 pt buck with the longbow a few weeks ago. Used a 3 blade snuffer on the business ed of a homemade POC arrow. Second deer with the longbow - awsome !!! Shot it from the ground, too. Missed a doe earlier with obsidian head. Head is resharpened and ready to go.

I hunt in Richland County - CWD HRZ. I can shoot as many deer as I'd like - but must do EAB. Will now be looking for an anterless deer OR a monster buck. The wife is growing testy with lack of freezer space. I am really looking for a 100lb fawn with a massive rack!!!!

One doe in the freezer for me, and saw a fair number of deer last weekend.  Even had a nice wide and heavy beamed 8 pt. at 5 yards - but no shot.  I'm taking off for the cabin tomorrow after work and plan to spend the whole week.  Should be good!

I hunted last evening. Two six pointers posed for shot opportunities. One was a yearling (1.5 yr old) the other was a great mature buck - with it's left antler broke of above the brow tine. Had both antlers been there - I would have shot.
Hope the antler is stronger next year.

Took a doe about two weeks ago. I've had opportunities at a couple of smaller bucks, but it's too early to end my season with a small buck. Especially since I leave tomorrow for nine days at the cabin. Will have two fellow WTA members hunting with me. We may end up just harrassing deer, but we'll have fun doing it and enjoy each others company. Hopefully I'll have a picture of me with my hands around a big set of antlers, and I don't mean me dragging out Daigle's or Vater's buck. Good luck to all this rut season.

One Doe In the Freezer. Shot From a Double Bull. I will be hitting it hard the next nine days since my deer cameras are showing an increase in buck activity in the food plots. I should have another in the freezer but I missed her twice in the same spot but had a nice group in the ground. Two broadheads touching in the ground.

I shot my first deer with the recurve on Nov. 4th
a small 6 pointer, but i'll take it !

I used a SK 43# @ 28" poc shaft with a 2 blade zwickey. 7 yards shot on the ground, the deer went 30yards and pilled up ! Pass through with a heart shot!! Great day in the woods !!

Now it's off to shoot some does.....

Last weekend every thing was right ... I was sitting a saddle between two ridges, with a slight breeze blowing into a very thick bottom.  I was using golden esteros scent.  Right at dusk a huge 3 year old heavy 8 point came below me at nearly 20 yards.  Although I sprayed my boots with eliminator scent, he crossed my tracks, turned and walked away!!  No shot, only a heavy heart.  I need rubber boots in a bad way!!

Don't get discouraged....rubber boots aren't any better than anything else.  Marketing hype says rubber boots are better.  Testing w/ dogs shows it doesn't matter.  Save your money for more arrows and stuff.

Thanks for the posting ... man i wanted that deer!!

Anyway, do you get out shooting much.  I have been looking for a place or club or something in this part of the state and have not found anything.  Do you ever shoot in the winter?  Any ideas where a guy can go to practice in the winter months?
