Between now and next Thursday one of the forecasts I saw showed 2-2.5" of rain. So, for the Boeuf hunt veterans, you know that will mean a muddy camping area. Anyone have ideas on how we can better manage that this year? I'll look around and see if I can find any straw bales for sale. Is that even a thing in the South?

Looks like camp will be very full and more traffic means more mud on the porch, inside the cabin, bunkhouse and tents. Just wanted to get guys thinking about mud management. It's a real thing on this hunt most years.

Way to think ahead, Darren!  I'll see if I can find some pallets.  An elevated floor would be great!

Is it okay to bring a bale of straw, If we can lay our hands on it?

All good ideas here, I know after last years rain it got pretty darn muddy around camp.

Rick, I'm going to check with a couple feed stores not far from me and see if they have any. I'll bring a couple if so. If you can find some let me know.

They don't do a lot of bedding over here, but I have seen them sell around Halloween and Thanksgiving for decoration.

I will be checking one of our feed stores today. Most places just have that compressed stuff like you get from Tractor Supply.

that is a great idea!  I will try to find some here as well! 

I believe they hauled some rocks in this year to raise the lower spots, but I haven't been there since then.  I MAY be able to ride down and check it out this week.

Looks like we shouldn't be getting as much rain as was originally forecast! It will still be muddy on the front end of the hunt, just not as bad. Here's the latest I found:

I have seen many predicted "down pours" turn in to afternoon showers so far this year.  I hope that trend continues!  Either way, the river keeps rising and it's impossible to know exactly where it'll be without laying our eyes on it, but I bet it's pretty close to where it was last year.  I am already planning my location of attack!
