Also, There are campsites along the east side of the flow. I have camped in them in the past.   Uncle Fred used to go there bear and deer hunting.

As yyou can see, leaves are starting to change.

Here are some from atop of the fire tower. (it was so windy, I confess, I didn't go all the way to the top.... It was a bit hazy because we were in a  cloud and it was misty.  we were at 4,800 feet

Nice Campsite on the Cedar River about 4 miles in, where we had lunch and I have dreamed of hunting. I believe gun hunters set up camp here for the rifle season.

Some random pics including the beaver dam you have to get around.  There is a nice trail from all the canoeists and Kyakers before you.

Charlie,

About how far is it from the dam on the Cedar River Flow to the south end?

Ron the Dam is at the beginning of the creek, you have to get over it to be on the river.  I'd say its about 2 miles or so.

Look at a map of the area and you will see where the creek dumps in.  the dam is at the beginning and you can get your boat up to about little squaw brook.

Its well worth a trip in there.

Thanks for the info, Charlie.  I'm tryin' to get up the nerve to do a solo hunt in there!  I was wondering how far it is from the gate where you can park to paddle to the south end of the flow.  I thought about camping on the east side of the flow near where Buell Brook enters the flow, if there is any level, clear ground there.

All your pics got me wanting to get in there!

That map shows about where I want to aim for, just don't know how far of a trip it is.  You can zoom in or out...

Its about 2 miles from the Dam to the other end of the flow before you enter the creek.

I have camped near Buell Creek, there are already "boat in" campsites along that shoreline.  Most have picnic tables Bear Hunters have brought via boat.

It starts to get weedy where that Campsite is a little but there are "channels" in between the weeds.

I always thought that area would be a great place to hunt as well.

Thanks again Charlie.  Good info. I was going to ask if there was any places there to get my canoe in and any level places to pitch a tent. If the weather is good (dry) I might give that area a try!

There is a launch just above the Dam. there is a sign in and out book. The same Dam you would drive across to get to the one trail I spoke of earlier.  Its is near the Rangers cabin.

I am eager to hear of your next trip.

Charlie,

I really appreciate all the info you have given me.  It's great to know there are camping areas near the south end of the flow.  I have been pouring over online maps and really want to try this.  Hoping for dry weather for the end of the month.  Thank you again.
   :campfire:

PS - I think this is close to the area Ron W. wanted to try a solo hunt on last year or the year before.
