(Another)Rainy morning on the river
« on: May 16, 2015, 05:35:00 PM »
Got out for the first time this season. There was some pretty steady rain, but the boat was loaded so why not.

There were plenty of fish spotted but no spawning activity. I was fortunate to shoot four during an abbreviated trip.

Can't go wrong with an old town. I bowfish out of a guide that I've had for a few years now. Good shooting especially giving the tough conditions(no sun and rain).

It can be somewhat challenging getting off a shot going solo. My method is to get to the "Carpy "areas then switch to standing. I hold my bow in my left hand and paddle with my right. When I see a fish I put down the paddle and shoot. Way too much movement and time. Still loads of fun. Sometimes we drop off a vehicle a few miles down stream and float.

Cool, nice shootin'!

Bowfishing is something I keep talking about getting into, and I'd like to give it a try sometime, but each time I get to the point that I can get a bow, and get it set up, something else comes up that requires my bowfishing funds, lol.

Good Stuff Glen, I still Miss the wallkill. Beautiful mystical river, very muddy in places too. It seems that river has it all depending on where you are in it.

Congrats bud, good shooting.

Nice shooting Glen...I've yet to get out...hopefully I'll get the chance this week.  I still use the old system where you manually hand wrap the string around an aluminum drum. Maybe I'll get one of those AMS retriver set-ups.

The weather forecast was not romising this morning but weekends are precious regardless of weather.

I managed to shoot four fish this rainy morning.

There was some spawning starting to happen. The water level was low today. I managed to shoot two floating and two wading . Sorry for the sub grade photos.

Glad you were able to get back out after them again, good job.

I've always said, any time you can go is a good time to hunt.

I can't wait to give it a try myself sometime, it sounds like a lot of fun.
