Unit 86 hunting?
« on: February 18, 2013, 05:14:00 PM »
My son and I are going to be hunting this unit this year. Its been 25yrs. since I'v hunted above Westcliffe. Its a wilderness know, which is good. We hunted many years around Marshall Pass but to many ATV and mountain bikes. So we are changing units. Any help would be helpful. We have a 19ft. camper to use for base camp. I would like to be as close as possible to wilderness boundaries. Then pack in from there. Any ideas? How is Elk and Deer population? Thank you.

with a 19' camper you might be somewhat limited...check out the Alvarado Campground (about 6 miles South of Westcliffe) shortage of ATV's and people here though....being an "open" area we get tons of pressure...
