The "Real Thing"
« on: April 10, 2012, 05:26:00 PM »
So who all has plans on going to The "Real Thing" shoot at the end of the month? Are yall camping or getting hotels, or commuting? And what bow do you plan on bringing? I am goin to be commuting each morning, and hopefully my three piece tree stick will be completed so I can test drive it on the course.

It's a three day shoot in Baton Rouge. All the info is on the ARTAC site. I've never been, but I'm hoping it will be fun. I think it is at Waddill management area

Can anybody clarify the fees? Flyer shows 30 for single non member and 20 per round.

Also, can I shoot only one or two days? Can't get off work Friday.

Man ya'll missed a good time with the Real Thing.  Great set ups Mike.

When the starting target is an elk walking out from behind a tree at 35+ yards and the second target is an 8' long X 10" wide T-Rex at 25+ yards, you know you need to get your game on.

At least that's the range I had them at and I left a pile of critters for the freezer on the range. LOL

This was my first trad only shoot and it was a blast! I drove three hours to get there and spent money for two nights in a hotel and it was worth every penny! These folks put on one heck of a shoot and if you didn’t make it you missed out. I didn’t get to meet everyone because my two kids and I were trying to do marathon archery (early bird shoot Friday, 3 rounds Saturday and 2 on Sunday). Mr. Mike is a super nice guy, can’t praise him and his club members enough, I will be back to support them on future shoots.

Awesome shoot. Mr. Mike was a great guy. We showed up Saturday with my Husky Puppy only to find that no pets were allowed in the park. Mr. Mike told us not to woory and that if anyone had a problem, then they could talk to him. The shoot was great and we had a blast.
