Like a fine wine, Bill...shot my highest 3D score ever last month. Then again, the month before? Not so much. We oldsters are consistently inconsistent.

I figure it was the snowy background and being too decrepit to search for arrows in that mess...must've honed my concentration. Landon will be my witness, Bill...I've paid him well.

The committee has already started working on this shoot to make it the best yet.

We have the renaissance group coming in again this year that will have all of their medieval tents set up and various displays. These are hard core re-enactors. If you were there last year you know they put on a great show. I will post more information on them as it gets closer.

I am pretty excited as Allen Shafer from Ten Ring Strings will be at the S.T.A.R. shoot this summer.  Everyone on line has been talking about his bow strings for the last several years, how well made they are and how they have enhanced their bows performance. He is going to bring in a lot of readymade strings and string material and set up a booth, but also provide information on Saturday afternoon about the various string materials and their benefits and weaknesses. Like most guys I have spent the last 30 years content with Dacron or FastFlite.  It is going to be interesting hearing the advantages of some of the new materials on the market... Rhino, 8125, Ultra Cam, Fury, etc.

Zipper Bows and Grizzly broadheads will be supporting the shoot this year as well.  We will have some Grizzly broadheads, including the new Instinct, to give away this year.

Less than a week out now and things are coming along nicely. Bill Dunn from Zipper bows has sent in some of his new Instinct broad heads for us to give away as prizes. Havalon knives has done the same and we have bows and goodies from Lancaster archery supply to give away as well.

Make sure you turn your score cards in, whether you keep score on them or not.  We are drawing for a new Black Magic bow.

Hi all,
I'm coming down to Smith Mountain Lake from NJ and will be staying on the eastern (Huddleston side) of the lake June 11th -18th and was hoping to find a place to shoot my longbow. I will also be working on my latest sinew backed maple bow. Hopefully get it tillered while relaxing on vacation.
Anyway, are there any public or private places to shoot in the area? Not sure the rental house will allow it on the property but I am looking into it.
Neil.
