« on: March 09, 2013, 10:00:00 PM »
Okay. Let's do this!

What: Tradgangers Hunt of the Virginias
Where: Stoney Creek section of Giles County, VA (White Rock campground area
When: Oct. 17-20, 2013
Virginia critters in season should be Whitetails, turkeys, bear, and squirrels
I will have to Clarify the WV critters in season.

Note to non residents of Virginia.....there is no Sunday hunting in Virginia.

Trad bows only and camping (I will try to find the closest motel and post it for anyone who would rather not sleep under the stars). Also will make a run out there in a few weeks and try to take some pictures and find the closest store for food, drinks, etc.

This is on National Forest.

Let me know if you can make it and I'll add you to the lst.

Hopefully some others will see this and be interested too.

Any ideas about location?

I'd be interested!  Lot's of good hunting land in the National Forest in Craig County.  Also some good hunting opportunities in Bath County.  It would be neat to do in conjunction with a fun shoot.

Bob,
I was thinking about Bath Co., crawfish area of Wythe Co., or Potts Mtn area of Craig Co.
I know Bath decently, and Crawfish (but it's been years).....Craig Co, well, as long as someone points me in a direction...lol

I'm pretty much game for anywhere. I spend most of my time in Russell,Smyth and washington when I'm not in Ohio or Wv. Mt Rogers is a beautiful area to hunt also !

I grew up hunting just down the ridge from Mt Rogers on Iron Mountain. We really need elk up there, it is great country.

I'm very interested in this also. I'd consider whatever type of hunt you guys are interested in. I'm in Alexandria, so it's a bit of a drive for me but I'm up for it regardless. I'm flexible with work so Thursday-Sunday is cool.

Keep us posted ... I'm not familiar with those areas so I won't be of much help in planning unfortunately.

While we're talking about hunts, maybe lets talk turkey as well? Any interest in Toms also?

Okay....Looks like a lot of people, initially, are interested.

There's also some interest from some guys in West Virginia.

So maybe a Tradgang gathering of the two Virginia's.

A place that has been suggested is the Stoney Creek section of Giles County.  Would allow guys with a WV license to hunt WV side and guys with a VA license to hunt VA side.  It is all National Forest.

I was thinking about Oct. 17-20 (or whenever you could make it).

Thoughts anyone?

Just took a look at it on Google Maps Marc.  It appears that you are correct.
It would be around the White Rock area.

Ken,
I'd be happy to make a run up there with you this spring. Stoney creek offers good trout fishing too.

The campground is a forest service one.
