Show me the evidence.
« on: October 04, 2009, 12:11:00 PM »
Show me the evidence.
Lets see them Virginia Deer you shot.

I saw a spike about 30-33 yards away.
Twice he was in a perfect shooting lane.
I did not feel confident enough to shoot him.
I'm a 25 yards and closer at this time.

I saw a big old doe coming straight to me when the wind changed and everybody knows what happened next. The high light of my hunt was when i got to the tree where my son austin was and i saw one of his arrows on the ground i asked him about it and he said he did'nt know what happened he saw that spike and all of a sudden he got real nervious , shaking and sweating and dropped his arrow off his bow.I laughed and explained to him he just got a good taste of buck fever.Austin told me the spike circle him for over a hour just out of range.Austin was excited and pumped. All and all we had a great day.

Right after day break a yearling came in at 3yds under my stand and i drew and my string hit the stand, here I am at 3/4 draw with this little gut staring right at me.I couldn't do anything. He finally decided i was not gonna harm him(little did he know)He took a step and I drew back and released. It went a liitle far back than I would have liked ,but I caught one lungand liver.I gave him some time and found him piled up.Nothing to really brag on but we are having him for dinner tonite and i guarantee it was worth every pound or ounce..LOL/I will post pics later.
I also saw ten plus deer from that stand a  nice forky got a shave from my Magnus, but that is another story.......Headed back out tomorrow

I saw 8 yesterday evening. Closest one was about 30 yards. I have them figured out for tomorrow evening, I get to go.

On the way out last night, I have to drive by where my Tues. morning stand is. There were 10-15 deer that had just came by it-headed to the neighbors corn. I could have hunted it yesterday
evening, but wanted to save it for a morning hunt first. This is the same stand that I killed the big doe last year on the first day I hunted.

Congrats again Danny.....looks like some dandy eatin'!!!

Yep Chad, Austin got the fever!!  AWESOME

Here's a picture of my latest deer from SWMNV resident traditional
bowhunter. The deer was taken on private property in Stafford county. I got
in the stand at about 5:00 pm, at around 5:50 I had 3 does and a spike
coming toward me on a hillside. I had made my mind up that the first deer to
offer a shot I would take. They came from my right and the does spooked some
and moved down the hillside. The spike came in an circled behind my tree.
When he cleared to my left and offered a shot at 25 paces I let fly and made
a perfect quartering away shot and a pass through. He ran 80 yards and crash
rolling down hill another 20 yards. I went and collected my friend who's
property we were on, got the 4 wheeler and picked up my deer. All in all a
good afternoon after work.

Nice going Chad.  Kill a turkey now and you have the triple crown....  It was nice of Danny to kill one he could drag out himself.  I'm the photographer.  I got some hair from a shoulder blade shot and a broken woodsman.  The grapevine has it that our new lefty Travis has got a doe in the cooler.  Can't wait til Sat.   Jeff
