We'll be about 25 miles north west of you guys starting Sunday through next wek.  Hope the rain slows up and no wind...  There should be some stories to swap in about a week or so...  Good Luck..

just got back from setting up camp. hunted yesterday morning for a bit. watched a nice little black bear maul a sapling and also saw 2 deer. the weather is looking pretty good for most of the week. for anyone needing directions here they are:

from Staunton get on Rt 254 W. Travel on Rt 254 W which will turn into Rt 42 at Buffalo Gap. from there you will travel 27.5 miles going through Agusta Springs, Craigsville and Goshen. Turn left onto Rt 635 (T.C. Walker Rd) towards Millboro. Travel 1.6 miles to stop sign and turn left onto Rt 633 (Main Street). Travel 2.9 miles going through the little town of Millboro. The hard surface road will end then travel 0.6 miles and turn right on to Rt 129. Travel 6. miles on gravel road going through 2 creeks to a fork in road. At fork bare right up hill. follow this dirt road until you come to a field on the right. Camp will be in the woods to the left across from field. if you run into any trouble just give me a ring and I can direct you in. 804-402-6900

as mentioned I have been out hunting and scouting. sorry for the late post but I just pulled back into the house late yesterday.  Ed will be in camp Saturday 10/17, I will be back on Sunday 10/18 and there for the duration. anyone wanting to join us there will be plenty of room. if you can't make the entire week stop by camp for as long as you like, be glad to have you join us around the fire.  be back with the post hunt report on Sunday 10/25....

As posted in Pow Pow:

Dave (pig man) and I will be there sometime during the week.

Do y'all think we should talk about meal plans?  I think the idea of each person bringing a meal to feed the group for 1 meal was a good idea.  I'll bring a pot of my   Rob-a-que    as my wife calls it.   If I recall the first gathering we all broke out all the food at once.  The second one I think was better.

I know I'll bring warmer clothes for at night and a tent heater this year.  Last year it got quite cool at night.

Hey Rob do we need a Natnl Forest stamp?

Rules...there's rules???
Rob never said there were rules. Who are the referee's. Are we splitting up into teams this year?  I never bought a uniform, I might be able to find some cheerleaders though.

MR BINGLE!
Get your stinking National Forest stamp and a copy of the Rules. They change all the time, you know.    :readit:
Just because there is no resident Voice of Reason down there this year is no excuse to run riot over the countryside. And take care to treat my buddy Patrick real nice. He's a good shot with a mischievous sense of humor.

I will be over the mountain and north a little, keeping an eye out for smoke signals and carrier pigeons.

Hope everyone's having a good time and defrosted after last night.  Was 28 this morning when I left the house.

Hunted on the ground Saturday and had two does at 3 yards and a NICE buck at 10 yards but he spotted me even in my ghillie and not moving.  It was close though.

For a woman like that, you catch as many deer as she wants!

I'll be thinking of you guys as I am setting up camp this Saturday. I think Friday and Saturday will be great days to hunt! Weather will be shifting through precip toward the cooler side.
