"Rough Mountain Rendezvous III"
« on: July 11, 2009, 09:57:00 AM »
Well ladies & gents it's time to nail down the dates for the 3rd Annual RMR hunt in Bath County VA.  I posted this on the POW WOW as well, but since the majority of attendees are from VA I'm putting it here as well.

For anyone that has not attended that would like to join us, it's a great time and some good hunting. Do a search on the POP WOW to see the recap from the past two years.

There are two weeks that we can look at this year that should be nice weather and beautiful fall colors.
week 1 October 17th through October 25th
week 2 October 24th through November 1st

I will be planning several scouting trips starting in August and running up till the start of bow season, so if you would like to join me to get a leg up on the hunt just send me a PM.  Also I will be arriving in camp a day or two early to start setting up and getting stand locations squared away for those that can't make it up to scout.  This is in essence this is a semi guided hunt as I can point you in the right direction based on over 30 years of hunting Rough Mountain.

If you can't make it for the entire week that's ok, anyone is welcome to join us for a day or two or more if you can.

Check your calendars and get back to me with your good dates. we will select the week that the majority can attend.

Hope to see you there.....

OK ladies & gents the dates are set for the hunt.... October 17 through October 25 (Sat-Sun)..     :campfire:

The fall colors will be at or near peak, and the moon phase is perfect. A new moon is on the 18th. So far we have 4 for sure. There is plenty room for a bunch more. This is a perfect opportunity to get together and meet fellow Trad Gang members, see some really beautiful country and enjoy some good hunting as well.    :archer:

Ladies & Gents the dates are set, we are hunting October 17 through October 24.  I will most likely arrive Friday afternoon to begin setting up camp. Hunt Saturday and Sunday do some last minute scouting. Then it's hard hunting through the following Saturday and Sunday we will break camp for home.

Feel free to join us for any or all of the above dates.  I will have some good locations scouted out for those that can't get up to do their own.

Last year there we saw a bunch of critters, including a shot at a black bear, 1 buck fell to an arrow and many squirrels and grouse were seen as well.  This year looks to be another super year. I should have a mass crop report within the next few weeks.

Hope to see you there!

Really looking forward to it and getting to meet a few of you. Just bought a used T/D Bears Paw longbow and getting used to its draw weight a bit. Hope to be using it on this hunt!

Looks like I'll be on call that week so I'll have to stay close to my electronic tether.  The first weekend I'm looking at finally doing that float trip in the Wilderness area, weather depending.

I'm thinking about coming.  I live in King George, Va, and it's about 3 1/2 hours from me.  Reminds me of the WV mountains I grew up hunting on!  Which is not far from Bath.  I grew up in Monroe County, WV.
