Who has a Schafer longbow I can hold?
« on: March 03, 2009, 06:54:00 PM »
Anyone know who owns one?  I need to fondle a Schafer longbow.   I talked Beth today (Schafer Bows) and they have one almost finished, and they will ship to me, but I thought I'd see if anyone close by had one that I could see...touch.

I really would like to see how it feels in the hand and how they draw.

Personally, I love the Schafer recurve, but since I moved to longbows ... it's either staying with the Crow Creek Blackfeather, or dancing with the Schafer for a bit.

Allen, Jeff will have to put it down sooner or later.  My hope is when he goes to the bathroom ... then, that's when I'll sneek off with it.  (Just don't tell 'em.)

I did talk to Beth a few days ago and she stated Dave will have a Walnut riser/3 pc. done in few days, so hopefully that will be sent to me next week... you know...just to try.

I still love my Crow Creek, but... there's just something about the Schafer.  I'm just hoping the longbow feels just as good as my Schafer recurve did.  (Yup, sold it when I went to longbows.)

Damn....  I've got to carry my bow into the Port-o-let now.  Come on May.  It has been a long wait. After I fondled the PBS donation bow and shot Bob Walkers bow I'm pretty confident in my choise.

David... what are the specs. on the loaner?

Specs???  I assume it will be the ivory inlay, 95 pound, 3 piece, 72" long one.    :)

Naaaaaaaaaaaaaa,

I talked to Dave today and it will be a basic 3 pc...48#, 62".  Walnut riser w/ checkering & antler tip on the limb ends.   It should be here next week.

Well, I should receive the "demo" Schafer 3pc tomorrow (I hope), so I just might leave Jeff's bow alone.

Ok... won't be heading to Dixie tomorrow.  Gotta work.  Hopefully Sunday I'll be there.

Jeff, this 3 pc shoots extremely well; however, with my 3 under shooting style... a 64" will better suit my needs.

My main purpose in getting the demo bow was to see how it felt in my hand.

As many of you know already, the quality of Dave's work is outstanding.  Beth states this bow is a basic one, but I honestly don't see any reason for "more".

I set this bow up at a 6-3/4" brace height and although I don't feel the same "lock and load" feeling at full draw (which is what I remember with my Schafer recurve) ... my goodness.......it feels soooooooooooooooooooo GOOD!!!!!

In the mean time I have to find my daughter's piggy bank.  (I'll be going to Denton Hill this year and hope to shoot the 64" while there.)

See ya!
