Tom,
I use tree steps, but I place them so far apart, no one else can use my stand  :)
Jeff,
I've added flippers to my list of standard equipment this year  ;)

Good luck guys.  Shoot straight and be safe.

Got out in the afternoon over at the "farm"; saw three, including a little 6 point I had at 15 yards for 4-5 minutes....me on the ground, no blind; him essentially clueless.  Drew on him twice before he finally pegged me; had to wave at him to run him off.  He was actually runnin' does; they were having none of it.  Just couldn't bring myself to rain on his parade this early   ....

Saw two barred owls, a sharp-shinned hawk miss a squirrel, and had a small spike sniffing the bottom rung on my ladder stand at last light.  Good day.  Built a blind on the inside corner of a fence next to a gate opening where the deer enter my yard to eat my chestnuts.  I'm hoping to slip in there after work tomorrow and arrow one of the does that come down each evening.

Dang nab it....grrrrrrrrrrr, (kickin dirt with the toe of my boot).

Congrats to all.

As for me, I went out for the first time yesterday morning.  One doe...sighted  at about 50 yards out... she came in to about 35 yards at 7:10...swirling moderate breeze... busted!  And the thing is that she kept snorting for about 7 or 8 minutes (or so it seemed).  She just didn't want to shut up!  Go figure.

Sighhhhhhhhh.

Allen, great photo set up.

Opps, didn't see Jeff's buck.  (I have slow-mo dial up service).

Bravo!

Ok guys... tell me the stories.  How far out...where did your focus your shot at (dead center of the lungs, 1/3 up from the lower body)...how far did they go? And on, and on.
