I'm relocating to Fairhope, AL (from Corvallis, OR) in about two months (around the first of June).  I'm really hoping to find places to shoot, and folks to shoot with near Fairhope.  I'd love to meet up with one or both of you (arrowlauncherdj and el greco) to do some shooting.

Are there any local indoor/outdoor ranges, local archery clubs, etc?  Any great places to wander the woods and stump shoot?

I've checked out the ASTB shoots on their website.  They look like a blast and I'm definitely planning on heading up to check them out, but they all appear to be held several hours north and I'm looking for more regular local shooting opportunities.

Maybe I'll have to find a place with some land, and set up my own mini-range.

Looking forward to hearing from anyone in the Mobile or Fairhope areas with info on local trad shooting opportunities.

Thats great Marquero.  Not any archery clubs that I know of. I grew up in the area but only got into archery in 2003.  There are some guys who shoot regularly at Buck and Bass in Pensacola, just a short drive from where you'll live. I have never gotten to shoot over there though.  I have been meaning to stop in at Stix River shooting center (guns)... the owner said at one time he was going to look into an archery range of 3d targets in the woods bordering his shooting range, but I have not followed up with him.

I am looking forward to getting to gether with el greco soon, and if we get something going we may can get something started ourselves, especially for no-wheels archery tackle.

Dave

I make my own recurves... so (H) bows... or at least that is what I write on them bc my last name starts with H.. ha ha. I do have an old Bear Grizzly that I like to play with though.

I am new to the no wheels thing. so I decided to go all the way and just learn to make recurves.

Nice.  I'd love to check out your recurves.  I have been shooting a 40# Samick Sage recurve for about 5 months.  I've recently aquired a 60# Bear Montana longbow which is a real kick to shoot.  I'm also about to start building a self bow.  We'll see how it goes.  I'm new to the archery thing in general (aside from a bit of compound bow shooting I did as a kid), but I'm kind of crazy about it.  I guess I've caught the bug.  I just love to watch those arrows fly!

Looking forward to meeting!

I live in Fairhope and would love to get together sometime and meet you guys.  I moved here from Mississippi a few years ago and haven't found any other traditional shooters.  Alabama has some awesome trad shoots but they are all further north.  We need to get a group together down south!

Hey Y'all (Double, ArrowLauncherDJ, ElGreco, and anyone else who's lurking),

I'm finally getting settled into my new digs here in Fairhope, and would love to get together with other trad shooters/hunters in the area for some backyard shooting or whatever.  Anyone interested?  If so, send me a PM.

Best,

Marquero
