bowhunt during rifle season

I know in the past it was illegal to bowhunt during the 10 day rifle season and supposedly there was going to be a rule change allowing you to bowhunt during rifle season.  Does anyone know if this has been changed yet for 2009.  I looked on Nebraska game and parks site and it has not been updated yet.  Just tryingto plan for next year.  Thanks

I am not aware of any change at this time. But I have also not looked into it.

I think I would still stay home inside for that 10 days- around here it sounds like a damn war opening weekend! In and around the area I hunt this last year there were over 20 guns in just about a square mile....

I'm with you on that Todd. Wouldn't catch me out there in the orange grove those 10 days either. Way to many trigger hapy folks out there.

There is a little talk of it, but I'd say the chances of it happening this year are 1% at best.  Looks like now there will be a 2 or 3-day rifle doe season added in October which I'm not fond of at all.  We would still be allowed to bowhunt but would have to wear the required blaze orange.  That may later be a justification for us trying to get access to the 9 (not 10) day rifle season but sometimes I like having the time off to catch up, rest up, lick my wounds, work on the honey do list, or head to Iowa.

I just can't turn it off, for 10 days in the middle of November. For anyone that don't already know, Desoto Bend is open during rifle season. Also Gifford is open during rifle season, but that is if you made the draw. See you out there! :Tic.

I have long been a proponent of it.. Common sense must prevail and I would not attempt to hunt an area where the gun hunters were not in favor of me being there..
From most of my observations, many properties are hunted hard the first weekend then near zero on the second weekend..
That would be a great time to be bow hunting..
However being a senior citizen already, I doubt if I will be around hunting long enough to see it.

That is unless they could sell us another permit for the privlege.
