2017 bunny hunts WTA
« on: December 14, 2016, 04:03:00 PM »
I just spoke to Don Kauss and we are penciling in two dates for bunny hunts.  More might happen if they are needed.

January 7 and 21 are the dates.  I don't know if we will have dogs or not till later on.

Please call or text Don and keep him informed of participation.  It is his farm and we are guests.

In the past we brought stuff to eat and drink in a pot luck manner.

Bunny hunts are a fun way to pass a winter day.  Try to be there.

I've got the 21st in my calendar and will be there assuming I am back from Arizona by then - traveling weather dependent.

At this moment I am planning to be attending both hunts.  Never know what happens minute by minute but so far.....  I guess I'd better change from all white fletching to something more red !

It appears there was a lack of interest in this weekend's hunt.  No responses cept yours.  I talked with Don a day or so ago and we will hunt the second weekend listed.  I believe there will be dogs on the 21st.

Haven't talked to Don this week.  Extended forecast shows we could be hunting in shorts on the 21st.  Might be no snow, but this could be the record warmest bunny hunt for the WTA.

Unless Don calls it off, I will be there. Last I heard the puppies will be there as well.  This could be a winner of a hunt.

Please.... if you are going to come out there call Don and let him know ahead of time.

I plan on going. I will be making one of my favorite dutch oven venison dishes tomorrow for the hunt.

Since the festivities will start on Friday I will head out after work and stay over till Sat. I hope Bruce, Pete, and Jerry don't kill all the bunnies Friday.

A good hunt as usual. Thanks to Terry for bringing out the dogs. And of course thanks to Don for hosting. It was a pleasure meeting new WTA member Brian. I hope to see you at more events and congratulations on your early success with your longbow.
The bunnies cooperated as usual and on Friday. I had a blown stalk along the driveway before I even got to the house. Jerry Karbon was the hero of the day taking the lone bunny in what only can be described as self defense. In pure Jerry fashion he coolly held his ground during the charge and delivered the fatal arrow at the final instance killing his attacker within reach.
It was fun seeing everyone and I can't wait to do it again.

I have not yet run this past Don... but, is there any interest in a last minute, last weekend of the season hunt (this coming Saturday... 2/25).  There is a chance there might be a bit of new snow.  Terry W said he would go and bring his pups along.

Testing the waters at this point.
