Rifles now allowed statewide!
« on: September 30, 2013, 01:02:00 PM »
I understand there were restrictions for shotgun only areas, many of which historically were not for safety reasons.  I support changing those but this is going way too far the other direction.  The metro zones like 60M where I live will be a disaster based on the way people hunt by me.  Mostly drives, sitting on hillsides shooting at running deer.  My wife has been shot at while walking the dog down the road, good thing slug don’t go much more than 400 yards.  There are 100’s of hunters in Willow River State Park, which is easily within 30-06 range (4 miles) of 50,000+ people.  Curiously the DNR made this rule change last minute so the locals could do little about it, or even weigh in on the proposal.

More bow hunting is the solution in urban areas, not 7mm mags.  This is a serious safety issue, we have metro zones for a reason!
