Bodnik Slick Stick
« on: November 12, 2017, 03:56:00 AM »
Well, I have had this bow for a month and felt the need to pass on the Great experience it"s been. First, I can"t believe they can sell this bow for 350. The fit and finish are flawless. I got the nutmeg brown #50 @28. I put a Great Northern Adj Quiver and Trad only 500"s with 100gr brass Inserts and 145gr heads. 520gr arrow. By the way the GN quiver is the distressed brown leather and looks great. The Trad only arrows are top notch too. I have had quite a few really nice customs and this is on par with any of them. That is not a slam on them but a HUGE praise on the Slick Stick. I draw right at 28 and for a 58 inch bow its real smooth. I am really falling in love with this bow. I have put in alot of arrows this month and this is a keeper. If you are looking for a Great bow for a steal, this should get a look. Its a R/D longbow and has a nice shape. Very quiet and pretty quick. Really a solid bow and worth alot more than they sell them for. The only thing of any bad nature to say is I am not the biggest fan of the string. It will be a ok backup in the pack. I also replaced the rest with a 3Rivers Brown leather rest. I will leave it with this, it is the Best Bow I have had. I shoot it better than any Bow I have ever had. I know everyone has different things they look for in a bow. This one has it all for me. If you made it this far, thanks. I just felt I should pass on my fun.

I couldn't agree with you more on the Slick Stick. I just acquired my second one. They both are smooth past my 29" draw and are very light and quiet. Got my first one (40# @ 28") from the Longbow Shop in the U.K.. It cost $276 after shipping. It grew on me so much that I snapped a used 45# Slick stick from The Footed Shaft in nearby Rochester Minnesota. Really nice to shoot. I now have two favorite bows.

Kole,
Have you experimented with your brace heights? My used Slick /s/tick was set at 6 3/4" and was quieter than my first. So, I reset my older (to me) Slick Stick to that same height and it is now quieter than before. I notice on the Bodnik Bowhunters Facebook page that others are using this lower bh, as well. As an archer with just 16 months experience, I wonder what else there is to do to these bows that will further improve their performance.

Well, I have been shooting the hell out of this little bow. I am still loving it more and more. I Was not liking the looser nock fit on the serving. So I took the original serving off. Padded up using 1/2 inch white teflon tape. Then I served it up and first try it fit great!! Much happier. The string has settled down and know holds solid. It seems to shoot great with the Trad Only 500s with 100gr brass inserts and 145-150gr heads. Nock set is still 1/2 inch. HartHeart I shoot split and it seems great. This Bow was a Gift from a Dear Friend and I sure thank him with every arrow I loose. And some days, I thank him alot.

mistercmath, I have played around with the brace height a bunch and for me 7 1/4 is doing it. Just feels good.
