Black River Bow Review
« on: March 27, 2017, 01:29:00 AM »
After the many positive reviews of Wills pass around bow I was convinced I needed one! I really wanted to try his hybrid.
Contacted Will and he had a few risers in process that were not sold yet. So I chose a Cocobolo and myrtle one.
He then sent me a bunch of limb veneer pictures to choose from, after a family vote I chose the olive ash.
The limb cores are bamboo and maple.
The bow is 60 in long 45@28 in
Received the bow last week and have shot it for a couple hours each day since.
It is the quietest shooting bow I have ever shot. By a lot! Dead in the hand - I am finding it hard to shoot my other bows as this one is so smooth from draw to release.
It is top quality throughout, it is not as artfully built as my Blacktail, but it's definitely nice.
I am shooting a 542 grain arrow at 27 in draw and getting 161 fps. This seems prettty good to me as with my 48 lb @28 black tail I am running 168 fps with a 525 gr arrow.
I am also really liking his grip shape. It locates my hand very well without being bulky or confining.
I will try and add pictures to this!

One other detail I forgot to add.
I had Will tiller this for three under. I wonder if this is the reason it's quieter than my other bows.
All my other bows are tillered for split finger.

I have to agree...totally.
Ordered his hybrid longbow...60"...57@28"
Wenge and bacote riser with bacote limb veneers.
Very smooth drawing, grip fits well, shoots where I look...great shooting bow.

I've been looking at these. I was considering a hybrid with the exact same specs that you got except I shoot split finger. I really like the looks of the green glass bows he has on his site. What was your wait time?
