SBD Bow String
« on: February 06, 2015, 03:18:00 PM »
I ordered a 6 strand BCY D-10 string on 30 Dec last year from "Silent But Deadly". I have a 60" John Mc Cullough 59er that I really like but I have not been able to quite the bow-very loud.  Tried all the standard tricks but nothing worked. The SBD web site says expect up 2 4 weeks for delivery.

I didn't receive the string so on Jan 31st I called SBD and talked with Pierre and his records showed he mailed my string out on 6 Jan.  Pierre said he would get another made and send out quickly.  Today the string came and I got to tell you the bow is as quite as any recurve I have shot.  Didn't do anything except put on a nock point and shoot it.  After 30 arrows no stretch. Hard to tell if it is faster shooting from the kitchen, through the dining room and into the family room but it seems to be.  Pierre also installed a set of wool silencers at no charge.

I plan to order 2 more strings soon.  SBD string work as advertised and Pierre is a pleasure to deal with.

I use his strings on my FF bows as well. I also think the string reduces noise.

A 10 strand SBD has been the quietest, smoothest feeling  FF string I've used so far. My current bow (I only have one) won't handle FF.

When I have FF compatible bow again (which I hope will be sooner rather than later), I'll get another.

After receiveing my latest FF string from Pierre I must say his strings are very quiet and are high quality. I put one on my Morrison Shawnee longbow and it really made the bow quiet and improved performance. I have to say Pierres strings are well worth the price.
