Stretch-a-string hog hunting
« on: April 04, 2006, 06:32:00 PM »
For anyone looking to hunt hogs, this place should be very strongly considered.
1) It's run and owned by a traditional bowhunter.  There is no gun hunting on the property
2) He has 4 HUGE stands that have comfortable chairs for all night hunting.  Some are enclosed and one has a 2 burner stove.  These overlook lighted feeders
3) There're tons of pigs.  My friend and I saw around 60 between the two of us
4)  100 bucks a night.  This includes lodging in a 2 bedroom, nice lodge which can sleep up to 8.  I don't think food's formally included, but there's food in the fridge and coffee in the maker.  Mr. Foster also cooked breakfast and dinner.
5)The price includes a hog a day.  There are no trophy fees.  If you kill an extra hog, it's 50 bucks flat fee.  None of this "so and so dollars/pound)
6)  Beautiful grounds with ponds you can do some bowfishing in.

These are the facts, but the most compelling reason to go to this ranch is to hang out and shoot/hunt and chat with Mr. Foster.  Besides being an astounding shot with his longbow, Mr. Foster has a lot of interesting experience, knowledge and advice he shares generously.  His goal is to have 100% satisfied hunters and certainly achieved this goal with Addis (CQC10) and me.
The only reason I didn't come home with some pork is innaccuracy.

There'll be a website up for him shortly and I'll post it here in the review section.  Meanwhile, if interested you can contact him here

Hopefully cqc10 will be along to supplement this review.

Jacksonville, Tx.  It's about 2.5 hours east of Dallas.
If you fly in, you can fly directly into tyler or fly into Shreveport, Louisiana(I noticed you're from New England)
