Docter 8X42 Binoculars
« on: February 28, 2006, 12:28:00 PM »
I have been around the optic block a few times and recently picked up a set of Docter 8X42 binoculars and thought I would share my opinion here.

Great Glasses! Informal testing (neighor has a bird feeder out. The window of my home office has trees 12-15 feet from it and birds often use it as a staging area to attack the feeder) reveals very fine detail. The glass quality is outstanding and have good FOV. I have owned Zeiss 8X56 Nightowls and Leica 8X50's in the past and these Docters are right there with them opticly. In fairness, the Zeiss and Leica's are a bit brighter due to larger objectives. I picked up the Docters for just shy of $400/new/shipped. Considering they retail close to $900, that is an outstanding deal on these fine glasses. The fella I dealt with was quick with shipping. I will be happy to pass his contact info on to anyone who is interested. I will bring them with me to the Baltimore shoot also so you can check them out.

Practice like you are the worst, shoot like you are the best...
