Gold Tip Traditionals
« on: February 02, 2004, 06:00:00 PM »
Recently ordered a set of Gold Tips new "traditional" arrows. They look great, the wood pattern actually fooled a few people from a distance. I shoot a 50lb Black Widow, I used the Gold Tip weight system to get them up to about 500 grains, and they flew great. But I can Not recommend them because of the finish. After a few shots into 3D targets the finish gets scuffed up and it took everything I had to pull them out of the targets, this happened to all 12 of them. It got to be embarrasing when I had to get help from fellow shooters to pull them out! Another guy I shoot with had similar problems with starndard camo Gold Tips. I suppose I could get some of the arrow lube that the compound guys carry around but who wants to go through that hassle.

Dan,

I really like my 3555's.  Weighted to 500gr also.  Shoot them from 47-58# bows.  I also have trouble with broadheads in a new foam target.  I have heard that Armor All(sp) works well for this problem.  Its worth dealing with for me.
